Hasbro has the answers to fan questions...
YoJoe!: With G.I.Joe Renegades right around the corner, has the decision been reached as to which aesthetics will be used for the line, animmated or realistic desgns?
Hasbro: G.I. Joe product inspired by characters and themes from the upcoming G.I. Joe Renegades series on the Hub will be available in Fall 2011. The figures will be offered in the Pursuit of Cobra line and will have the highly-detailed, realistic look of the line
YoJoe: Could you tell us a little more about the design philosophy behind Pursuit of Cobra? The environment-specific concept is interesting. Does the production team have anything to say about what resources and creative material they sought out during the conceptualization phase of design? One example: We enjoyed speculating about Jungle Viper's rifle origin, and his ultra-modern ghillie suit was also a nice surprise.
Hasbro: The team often times draws its influences from ordinary sources. It is within the world around us that the most unusual and unlikely concepts emerge, when concepts that seem understood are stood on their end and looked at in a new perspective: great new ideas are born. Outside of this broad scope type of design, the team looks at new, uncharted waters and new technologies that the G.I. Joe and Cobra teams could (plausibly) employ to take their epic battle to the next level. Characters like PARA VIPERS, JUNGLE VIPER, and SHADOW TRACKER fill gaps in the Cobra Regiment for example, and help to further broaden the fantasy.
YoJoe!: The upcoming Urban Battle Destro appears to be wearing an outfit reminiscent of the Black Widows from the 80's cartoon/toy line “Spiral Zone”. Was this the inspiration for this figure, or just a happy coincidence?
Hasbro: We have not seen that cartoon. It must be a happy coincidence.
