3 Best Men - GI Joe the Movie

Rewatching the 1987 movie, the three Joes guarding Serpentor (Gung Ho, Bazooka, Alpine) were described as three of our best guys. Hard to argue, those are three of my favorite Joes. Would anyone else suggest a different trio to guard the Cobra Emperor?

That is kinda a tough one to answer. You could say Quick Kick Snake Eyes and Roadblock but they are all captured in Cobra La at that point. First you have to figure out who is not tied to the trees in the Himalayas and go from there.

Good point! I hadn't thought of that.

Zap, Sparks and Mainframe. Serpentor would've seethed at the sight of the Joe who embarrassed him at the Ageless Care Factory.

    CLASSIC!!!

Yeah, Snake Eyes, Breaker and Main Frame. Snake Eyes simply because he's so BA, and then Breaker and Main Frame would make more sense as I think you need tech savvy guys in such a high tech facility to keep everything in order.

Remember, Currahee that Snake-Eyes was captured in Cobra-La. So, he wouldn't be there.
Joechaplin, the only reason why Falcon would mention "three of our best guys" is because he didn't know them on a personal basis yet. He probably didn't even know their codenames yet. He knew about Duke and Jinx because of his personal connections to them both.

I never understood why Alpine wasn't part of Flint's search party. Both he and Frostbite would've been essential for exploring a snowy mountain range like the Himalayas.
If Bazooka was going to guard Serpentor, The Fridge would've joined him as a football Joe (and as a rawhide).
Gung-Ho should've been assigned as a veteran mentor to the young recruits (especially Falcon).

Because Alpine and Frostbite were not on toy shelves any more The movie still had to feature the 87 line up which brings to mind the question of why were Fast Draw, Crazy Legs, Outback, Raptor, Sneak Peek, Big Boa and the New Cobra Commander, missing?
was it just too many characters? What about the Defiant? We see a shuttle in the exposition scene, they could have had a shuttle.
Duke was taken out of the picture to push Falcon as the new leader, or perhaps Beach Head! That would have been a crazy season with Beach Head as a cranky First Shirt.
Never was a problem for any other season to introduce all the characters. Perhaps they were still in development or going to be used in later episodes.
What was the parallel for Transformers? were all the 87 line up used in their movie?

Like with the 1986 TRANSFORMERS movie, not all the 1987 Joes were introduced in their movie.

Cobra Commander should've been given his armor and be ordered by Cobra-La to free Serpentor. CC would've led all the 1987 Cobras (Individuals like Big Boa and vehicle drivers like the Gyro-Vipers. And especially the Techno-Vipers) in the operation.
Jinx could've forced Falcon back to the prison where all the other 1987 rawhides would be there to back him up (And try to prevent him from screwing up) when the Commander attacks. Payload and Hardtop among them, which would've had them introduce the Defiant shuttle later in the film.
Of course, Falcon still would've got punished for deserting his post in the first place.

Nonsense, Skinny. Almost every Joe up to 1986 were shown in the movie, many didn't have any speaking lines.
And some stores in 1987 were still having 1985 figures to sell.
So, there was no excuse to not assign Alpine and Frostbite to Flint's search party. And the Oktober Guard still should've been working alongside the search party.
