it's back. I have been in bitter mode for the last week. This morning I was looking through older posts, and found three rather useful threads to me.

The first one was some post where a seller did something controversial and then apologized for it. There was a big fuss over all that, and the drama was annoying to read, but the existence of it all gave me new insight to my own mini-drama.

The second one was another "Real World" type of thread. Though it had a lot more "views", it had a lot fewer replies and was not as comprehensive as this thread. I had never seen it before this morning, but it had just a few lesser-known facts on there, which we have covered here as well. Also, a few of the readers/contributors on this thread have post on that one as well. Here is the link, but don't go there or you'll make it seem more important by adding to its views count: http://forums.yojoe.com/showthread.php?t=25065

Then finally I saw the one where Craig "hasbroengineer" announced he had worked on some GI Joe vehicles, including the AWE Striker. I just sent him a PM, asking if he would clear up the chronology of the Chenowth DPV and the AWE Striker. He hasn't posted since 2006, so keep your fingers crossed or whatever you do. It would be really cool to get an inside scoop on something like that.

    Glad you're back!

Now what do you all make of this? Look at the dates.

From what I understand, Chenowth supplied the buggy element of that project, and it's the same buggy design as the DPV and some of their competition cars. They have it somewhere on their website, but perhaps on a page that is inaccessible from their links. This remote buggy could have lead to their involvement in the DPV project. The time frame is 1982 to 1985, which means that it was absolutely early enough to influence the AWE. Wikipedia says that one of the DPV prototypes was a 2-man buggy with a TOW on top. You can't get much more AWE Striker than that! So, there's definitely a connection, and now I think it's much safer and wiser to assume that the DPV was the main influence on the AWE.

Apparently one of the longest standing members of Yojoe.com is now a troll. OK then... This troll is going to find a bridge somewhere and play Warhammer.
