My first big 25th dissapointment
Well, it finally happened. I had my first major disappointment with the line yesterday when I opened the FANG/CLAW set.
No, it's not the pilots I dislike, but it is the CLAW. The CLAW is a mockery of its former glory. I would have gladly paid for a good CLAW separate of the FANG. Its a one-piece hunk of garbage worthy only of a cereal box drop in. It's so terrible.
Luckily, the new FANG is absolutely awesome and exceeds the original and made the set worth the price.

That was the only vehicle set I wanted and didn't follow thru on. I noticed that there were some missiles missing; that did it for me.

Thank's for the confirmation.
I'd seen remarks along those lines off and on since a proto was shown, and everytime I looked at pics of the new CLAW, I kept thinking something was off. Still, I'm a 25th Ann. mark, so I'll be buying the set anyway for the FANG.

Some comparison shots:
I think if there was no CLAW previously made, the little one would have made a cool accessory. But being as there is an iconic precident, it just fails.

Even without the precident, it looks like a Happy Meal toy.

ok so it looks like one solid chunk of plastic? with handlebars and a couple missiles?
the original had the bomb. extending wings, movable ailerons, and was bigger. makes me think twice even three times about getting this set, the figures are approaching neon wildness, the box art contradicts exactly who flys what, and now this.
Cobra had the first UAV and now its been turned into a jetpack that is bigger and bulkier than the JUMP.
someone at MARS needs to get fired.

No kidding... and without landing gear, it's not even a practical UAV anymore, unless retrieval involves crashing the thing. It gets worse the more I look at it.

I dunno man. A couple of weeks ago I was going through all my extra joe parts etc. I found out that I had an almost complete CLAW minus a missle, handle bars and two small vanes. Having never seen one or had one, I didn't realize how cool it was. Few weeks later and I have the re-release and I am try to figure what the heck is wrong with it.
Well, judging by the comparison shots shown above, a whole lot. They obviously made a new mold of it but scaled down the size and molded all the parts together. It's like a red headed step child compared to the original. I mean, why bother? Look at how much cooler the gliders from the Spy Troops/Valor vs Venom lines were compared to this. It's almost like a cheap dollar store version. Chap Mei and World Peace Keepers have better stuff than this!
The white plastic even looks cheap. I would rather buy the Funskool versions.

I dont mind the new claw that much sure it is kind of happy mealish but the original was very large for what it was supposed to be it had wheels as landing gear but if the pilot were to use them he would have been scraping the ground durring takeoff and landing the size of the original would have been much to large for it to be used like a jump because it would crush anyone who tried to lift it on their back.the new version is much more realistic as far as functionality goes. I always thought it was sopposed to be a jet wing or something compatible to the jump.
