OK, I just learned how to make avatars last week so I thought I would practice and help some fellow collectors out. So far I have made 40+ avatars and some are better than others, but I am still learning. Anyway, if anyone wants a free avatar just click on the link and save the one you want to your hard drive (in case something happens to my folder). I will continue to make more if I have time and if there is a demand for more. To the best of my knowledge all of these should work on yojoe but please let me know if there is a problem. Most of these should look familiar to you, especially if you collect the cards. One last thing, after you pick an avatar you want to use please reply to this post and let everyone know which one you chose so we don't have 50 people with the same avatar. Hope you like them, and as I said I will make more if you want more!

I have now created a separate folder that contains avatars alreay selected from other members. If you are interested in one of these avatars please contact me first and I will ask the avatar user if they mind if another user uses the same avatar. I think this will help head off potential problems. Also, I will not transfer any logos after they have been selected since they are kind of generic (but cool nonetheless).

Tutorial Added 6/18

OK, obviously I haven't had much time lately to make new avatars but with the new cardback archive anyone can make avatars. Here is a tutorial on how to do it using AcrSoft Photostudio 2000:

--Pick the image you want to use in the cardback archive

--Right-click and save it to your computer

--Right-click the image on your computer and choose "open with"

--From the drop-down menu choose your photo editing software

--Crop the image by clicking and holding until you have the desired portion inside the box

--Select Crop from the Edit drop-down menu

--Select Image Size from the Edit drop-down menu

--Make sure both the length and width of the image are 80 pixels or less (80 pixels is the yojoe limit)

--Save image to your computer

--Click User CP in the yojoe forums

--Click Edit Avatar

--Click Custom Avatar and click Browse to find the image on your computer

--Click on the image on your computer so it appears in the box beside the Browse button

--Click Save Changes

--Enjoy your new avatar!

I use adobe photoshop.. Just get a pic of the item you want and cut around it and do the same to the rest and just copy and paste them in. I made the red and black as a background in mine and then blended that in.

OK, check the page again--I added three avatars of the 82 Grunt. Honestly, I need something better to scan for this one--I have the carded figure but it is better if I scan a card or a picture. The one of just the head I found and added it to the collection. When I get the 86 Milton Bradley card with him on it I can do a better scan for you. He is one of the ones I am still needing to complete my set....I have a complete case of these cards (check out the pics for my post in the misc section a few months ago or check the archives) but I will never open the cards! Hope this helps!

Check the link again--I just added 16 more avatars. If you see one you like but don't want the whole torso let me know and I will make an avatar of just the head. I usually try to get the weapon in there because that is my personal preference.


Also, mods if you want you can sticky this and I will continue to add more as I get time. If you want, of course. This is the result of me searching the web for G.I. Joe avatars and not finding any, and I'm sure there are other people out there like me (at least two so far from this thread).

you can create an account at photobucket.com because they host GIF and you can find a GIF maker at download.com for free right now i use Ulead GIF animator 5 and it is pretty easy to use

OK, I made a couple of avatars based on the Serpentor poster art. My favorite of the new ones is the one I just made where Serpentor is giving a speech. Check out the avatars page now and you will see the new avatars. I hope at least one of them is alright.

If you prefer the Beachhead avatar you can use it if you want. Any avatar you see in the avatar folder is fair game--after someone tells me they are using a certain avatar I move it to the "avatars already being used" folder.

I noticed you don't currently have either of them as your avatars. If you are having trouble check out my first post to this thread where I explain how to use an avatar. If you still have trouble just let me know and I will do my best to help you.

No one told me they were using this one so hopefully it isn't being used. I will go ahead and move it into the other folder. Actually, if the people are ok with it I don't see why two people can't use the same avatar anyway. It has proven to be an issue in the past so I had to create the "avatars being used" folder just to help curb potential conflict.

Did you try to right-click and "save picture as" to your machine? Thanks the way I normally save the pics from another source. Once it is on your machine you should be able to use it as your avatar as long as you can find it on your PC.

Any avatars in the main folder are fair game. Just let me know which one you want to use and I'll move it over to the other folder to minimize duplicates. If you have another image in mind let me know what it is from and maybe I can make you one from that.

That does seem to be my problem the character I chosen isn't super important so there aren't that many Images of him.
I have two different Avatars the one I am using.. and this one I uploaded here.

Ok, I made three avatars from the back of the Cobra-La cardback and the poster. From the poster I have one that shows mostly his head and the other shows some of his body. Unfortunately, in the poster Nemesis Enforcer has his arms spread out so if I get those in there it is hard to make out any details. Anyway, I uploaded the three avatars into the "already being used" folder since I assume you will use them. :) Look for them at the bottom of the page because I don't bother alphabetizing this folder since they are already taken.

To everyone:

I was kind of out of the loop for half the year attending military training. If you notice the yahoo photo albums have now closed and I forgot to migrate the photos while I was gone. I have just started migrating everything over to my photobucket account now and once everything is good to go I will change the links in this thread.

I have learned a lot since I made these avatars and I almost hate to see how bad these ones are in terms of quality. I had a really bad scanner and that's why the image quality is poor in a lot of these. Since then I have bought a better scanner but I just don't have a lot of time to do all that work again. Hopefully these can still be of some use to members of this site though.
