two small logos. I have a third Spirit somewhere, but I can't find it and since it is beat up pretty bad (I kept it because it is from my childhood collection, my Grandmother loved Indians and gave it to me) it may not even have an arm logo any more.

This is actually a very interesting post. I used to have a 32-back carded Spirit. For those of you who aren't cardback connoisseurs, that was the first release. Interestingly, this particular Spirit had the smaller logo, (which seems to be more common from the few posts here). So my first question is: Have you checked the dates on both of these figures? It is entirely possible that the (apparently rarer) large logo version came out later. It is always fun when a later release is more rare than an earlier one IMO. Anyways, without any more information that is my best thought on the matter. Thanks for bringing this to our collective attention.

just check yojoe has a canada carded spirit guess what big logo.i think were getting closer to solving this.it would make since canada produce joes were a lot less than us.so this would explain more small logo than large logo.any one else have a canada carded spirit.maybe we can wrap this up as a canada release spirt.

also when i got this spirit if came with a canada file card.

Hope this helps...

Being a Canadian, I ahve the Canadian version of "Shaman"(Spirit).

Clearly it has the larger logo. DOesn't prove anything, but supports the idea posted above that it may be a regional variant.

I hope this makes him rarer (therefore worth more!):D

Ahhh. You shoulda mentioned that in the beginning! I automatically assume a figure is an American release unless it is explicitly stated otherwise. Anyways, the filecard coupled with the pictures above lead me to the conclusion that this is a Canadian version.

Anybody else got any information on this?

here is a picture of the canada spirit on card with code name shaman, but i have a full canada file card with code name spirit not shaman.so maybe the larger logo was only on the shaman card?i am just trying to figure this out if it was just a canada release it would be rarer than us since canada had a small production compare to us.

I looked at my fc for Spirit and it definately says Shaman. It is identical to the fc in the archives on this site.

Maybe you should scan your fc with "Spirit" on it and add it to the archive. I assume the fc is in both English and French?

my original big logo us bought spirit had the charlie is a spirit filecard so that doesnt make any sense that its a canadian only version. i bought mine in 1984 at sears in topeka, kansas. its the only gijoe figure i have ever found that was still in a case at the store. i remember it because it felt like a bad christmas, all these toys in the box but only enough money for 1. i got spirit and a friend of mine got blowtorch.

i wouldnt be surprised if all the canadian versions had big logos but i dont think that it was an exclusive to canada
