I'm starting to make them, but not casted directly from GI Joe weapons. J&R had them made exactly like the originals. Thats where he got into trouble. I am going to make some weapons from broken accessories that I have around to make an original one of a kind weapon.

They will be made from the resin Alumilite. They will be made in black and gun metal colors. Pics will be aviable in the next week or so. Any suggestions would be great.

as far as copyrights you cannot make a direct cast right? What if you were to make slightly altered ones...with possibly a small extra piece that could easily be cut off by whoever buys them...Then it would be your 'original' weapon altered to turn it into an original looking accessory.

Correct. Thats my idea. Making a one of a kind. I have several broken accessories that have the stock broken and the sights broken. So I just need to make a cool weapon.

also i think the copywright infringement was indeed the names of the weapons. they cant copywright realistic weapon models like the M4 or MP5 and such so i suspect "most" joe weapons are realistically based on actually weapons, thus making them open for copying

You're added. I was discussing this with DMurray and I think that a crimson guard with a bayonet. I am going to do the officer sniper rifle with a different scope and maybe some different 86' bat accessories.

Any more ideas???

J & R got into trouble because they made a replica of Zartan's Chameleon Skier. Though it was made of a clear plastic (to go along with the clear Zartan figure) Hasbro made them stop selling replicas all together.

hasbro didn't step in, until that, and never said anything about the weapons and heads they have been making prior.

Seller - how bout Red Star's AK-103 rifles?
Those are the perfect rifles for the Cobra Infantry Teams, dunno how to
modify them tho to make them look somewhat unique...

J&R also used to make those "flex" helmets, not sure what material they
used but they look awesome... i needed a whole bunch of cobra officer
flex helmets in red if you could somehow make those...

I actually have some of those red star rifles coming to me for making molds. Not sure about the flex helmets. Do you know what they were made out of?

Yes, I will be doing those in black. I just wanted to see what the resin would look like with out any dye. The light gray will be very hard to match, but I will keep trying.
