They look fine to me. Anywhere between $100 to $200 for the complete set would actually be pretty cheap. Those last issues are very tough to find in good condition.

All very good points. I'm not a comic collector, but it definately sounds like he knows what he's talking about. However, if you just want them for reading, to get caught up on things you've missed, or to refresh your memory on what you've forgotten - even just as space fillers, this looks like a pretty good place to start.

It looks like a good place to start, especially if you only want them for reading but if you want a instant set to keep and collect then you need to ask the seller some additional questions.

2nd+ Prints are very common on the Older Joes and if this guy doesn't know what to look for you could easily have 10-15 of the pre #30 books that are not first print and almost worthless if not in NM/M Condition.

If you are serious about this lot then thats the first question I would ask, if all of the key books are 1st print and in VF+ Shape then I would go for it, Anything 2-10, 21, 26, 27 you want to make to sure are 1st Print. Verify condition on 148-155 as well, any obvious spine creases, edge tears, etc.

I got my near complete set from a seller (not on ebay) for around 350-400...i don't remember exactly. I thought it was a good buy b/c I wasn't looking for an investment (I don't plan on ever selling them), buying as a whole kept me from having to track down all the issues (which could be fun, or could be a pain depending on your goals), and they were all in great condition. I got the following in bulk

main series: 1-155 (No McFarlane Special...still need it)
special missions: 1-27 (I still need 28 if anyone has an extra!)
year book: 1-4
order of battle: 1-4
vs. transformers: 1-4
All the Euro Missions

I see them come and go on ebay...sometimes there are a couple sets, then you want see one for a while. Good luck!

I sold my entire run for $500, I had 1-155, Special #1, Order of Battle, Yearbooks, trade paperbacks, Special Missions, Transformers crossover, Digests, Tales of, and the little mini ones that came with the figures.

Those mini ones are hard to get and everyone begged me to sell speperatly.

I had to sell, needed the money.

So as stated before $500-600 seems to be about right if you want all of them all at once.

What is the best/easiest/most cost effective way of obtaining the entire Marvel run strictly for the purpose of reading them with no desire to have a Mint/Near Mint collection? I am just interested in having the ability to read the comics. As long as I have something readable and no one has used it as a coloring book I am happy.
