From my personal collection, used to set up dioramas and shoot pictures, not played with but opened and stickers applied (wow sounds great brand new only opened for diaramas). Side and top panels and steereing wheel are missing from jeep, kickstand is missing from cycle, and gun is glued to cycle.(not sounding to good now) Bought as is from garage sale (so he hasnt even owned it from new the last owner may of played with it to death)

This I think is as fraudulant as they come!!!!!!!!!!!

Do YoJoe pics show up on a Google search? That might be why.

I used to search for pics on Google before I had a digicam or scanner. (But never from YoJoe) I was selling a Transformer issue #1 and found a stock pic online, no harm no foul as long as the description is good. Some others might be doing the same.

You know... not everyone can afford the latest technology to post pictures of their own. I was one of those that borrowed yojoe pics for an auction. It was an honest mistake. I wanted those who would bid to know what kind of figure they were bidding on. If the figure is in the same exact shape as a picture, I guess I didn't see what the big deal was. I now know better and won't use yojoe pics any longer for auctions. I will have to find another way to add pictures. My intent was never to misrepresent any product. I have 100% positive ebay feedback. Perhaps I can borrow pictures of items carded from other sites and say that the figure is loose, and it's for the figure only. Would that be considered more acceptable?

There are 2 problems with that:
It's illegal

Pictures taken by other people, no matter where they are posted, are the property of other people, & can not be used without their permission. It may not be as obvious as auto theft, but it's still stealing.
It's misrepresentation

If it isn't the actual product you are selling, it's only a representation & is no better than a written description. In fact, it may be worse, as the consumer could be disappointed by a dissimilar detail the seller had not even noticed.

I'm sure you meant no harm, & there is no reason for name calling by anyone, but this type of activity can lead to lawsuits, & I don't think anybody wants that.

I couldn't afford a digital camera at first either. I used to take the pictures with a cheap point & shoot and have them developed onto a disk. This is a pretty cheap way to do it.

Sorry for my harsh post earlier- I jumped to conclusions on what seemed like a possible scammer. While it's not good to use others' pics, it's not appropriate for me to make such a leap in conclusions. My mistake...

And my thanks to orionlukteel for tipping me off to this. I e-mailed the person running this auction and told him to remove the picture, which he said he did, but didn't understand why it was such a big deal.

I told him that such pictures as might appear on YoJoe.Com or MasterCollector are the property of those Web Sites and as such using them in an eBay auction is a violation of copyright. Perhaps a bit of a stretch (perhaps not), but I wanted to scare him just a bit.

I also notified MasterCollector about this.

Bottom line, I don't want one of MY pictures associated with someone's auction when I don't know that individual, his reputation, or the merchandise he's actually selling.

No problem edge, apology accepted - I know I won't use pics from websites anymore in auctions. Whether it's copyright enfringement, illegal or not - It's obviously against the wishes of those whom operate the websites. If you'd check my ebay feedback though, it stands at 100%, so I certainly wasn't trying to scam anyone. Obviously, there are others out there whom also use these pictures - I can't speak to their credibility. Live and Learn!

Does yojoe.com ever grant permission to people who ask to use their pictures? I mean, I don't sell much on ebay but if I wanted to borrow a pic to use in an auction would yojoe allow it in exchange for a giant "Thanks to Yojoe.com for the picture" or something of the sort? This is strictly hypothetical, I own a digital camera. Just curious.:D

No, YoJoe never allows the use of pictures for auction posting.
