First let me say the search feature on this forum sucks! Now with that out of the way, I was wondering...

How can you tell if you have a "big box" version of say, the RAM if all you have is one box? Are the boxes printed slightly different or is it that one box is just bigger and you'll never know until you come across a box that is either bigger or smaller than the one you already have?

Try checking the archive. A lot of the vehicles that came in both big & small boxes have pics of both, so you can see them side by side. The R.A.M. (http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/82/ram/) doesn't, I guess nobody has submitted pics of the other style box yet.

Any Idea which vehicles did cuz none of the other 82 vehicles even mention the big box and the few 83 ones I checked didn't either

Here ya go. Its the 1982 JUMP, FLAK, and RAM. I have yet to see a JUMP and am looking to buy the JUMP and the RAM if anyone has a MIB or MISB.

There a lot more than that. I told and submitted pics a few years back that ended up in limbo somewhere. The defense units have variations just to name a few off the top of my head.

Well I'm gonna guess I have the Big Box version of the RAM since the box has a 1982 copyright on it. I'm gonna try to find pics of both to see if I can find differences

edit: can't find pics, how about anyone with a RAM box, measure it and leave the dimentions here. Here's my box:

Length: 8 3/4 "

Highth: 7 "

Width: 2 1/4 "

The big box should be 10" x 8" x 2 3/8" roughly.

I just measured the boxes I have and I came up with this:

Big boxes:
10 1/4" X 8 1/8" X 2 1/4"

Small boxes:
8 3/4" X 7 X 2 1/4"

For fun, I also measured the silver Jump box:
9 1/2" X 7 1/5" X 2 1/4"

Here's a pic of the relative differences:

Oh - another thing I noticed: the phrase "See back panel for actual size" (or some such thing...) is printed on the small boxes - however, on the large boxes, it is a sticker...

This might help someone figure out which box they have it they don't have a measuring tape handy...

Cool, I just received a mib FLAK yesterday that had that sticker on the front. I was thinking the box was rather large for what it actually contained.
