View Full Version : Lt. Falcon & Jinx's Relationship- Did You Like It?
One of the few things I enjoyed about GI Joe:The Movie was the romance between Lt. Falcon & Jinx. Did you like or dislike it?
I liked it because it would've made for an interesting relationship-all the more so since Snake Eyes personally recruited Jinx for the GI Joe Team. A romance between Duke's half brother & Snake Eyes' daughter' would've been cool. Ditto, seeing how would've interacted with Scarlett (in the comics they're best friends) in the cartoons would've been a nice touch 'cause Scarlett never hada real friend among the female Joes in the cartoons. (She & Lady Jaye were more like rivals & colleagues, not essentially friends.)
If nothing else, Jinx is very attractive;I can understand why Falcon would fall for her. And if you've read Spec. Missions #24, well, Falcon was right about Jinx having nice legs, too. :)
Anyway what do you think?
Falcone 10-26-2005, 08:30 PM i dont like it.....i think covergirl is more of falcons calibur (i dont like jinx)
Propadeutic 10-26-2005, 08:43 PM I think what we saw in the Movie fit the characters well enough. It was also subtle enough not to distract from the main threads of the Movie. Falcon approached his pursuit of Jinx just like everything else. Jinx's attraction to Falcon was understated until the end and tempered by frustration with his flaws; the ambiguity subsides when he demonstrates self-sacrifice.
The one drawback is that it repeats the common cartoon pattern of assigning nearly every heroic female as a major character's girlfriend. (I say that with no political implications whatsoever; superfluous romantic subplots are a pet peeve of mine.) Falcon's behavior is necessary to how his character is developed, but I personally think Jinx would have worked better if she'd totally rebuffed Falcon's advances and instead been more focused on leading the other four Rawhides.
danielmd06 10-26-2005, 08:47 PM Heh heh. It wasn't a bad idea at all.
Falcon in the cartoon was very different from Falcon in the comics (ever read his filecard?). Jinx fit him well in the cartoon.
In the comic world she would likely be more interested in someone like Billy, and (if I recall correctly) she actually had a romantic interest in Billy according to the Master and Apprentice II storyline.
If not Jinx, then I don't think the cartoon Falcon would match up with any of the other female Joes very well.
Patrick A. Riley 10-26-2005, 09:05 PM Jinx and Budo were together in M&A II
SharpShot 10-26-2005, 09:24 PM I liked their relationship. While it never had to chance to develop like Flint and LJ's, it was pretty good for a one shot.
I felt it was much better than Duke and Scarlett, because you were never given the sense that their relationship was real. There was never any tension between the two and, for me, that was unrealistic. You were just spoon fed the fact that they were a couple, but you never understood how or why they stayed together.
The writing for Flint and LJ set the standard and I thought Jinx and Falcon came close to it.
I'm glad a fewe fans liked the Falcon/Jinx pairing, and yes, Falcon's filecard was really at odds with the Movie's depiction of him. I think that was a major flaw of the Movie. I mean, if Falcon was sucha disgrace, how did he ever wind up as a Green Beret, let alone as a GI Joe? It makes no sense.
And I agree-the Duke /Scarlett pairing was a mistake. What's wrong with pairing Scarlett with Snake Eyes as in the comics?
RedSkullCobra 12-27-2010, 10:48 PM Silent lovers don't do well in animation. Although we're glad Snake-Eyes did recruit Jinx for the team.
Every new "hot shot" is going to need a woman to temper him. Jinx was to Falcon like Arcee was to Hot Rod in the TF movie.
Too bad this relationship didn't continue because Sunbow was done with Joe.
RedSkullCobra 01-15-2013, 10:58 PM Jinx (Kim "Kimiko" Arashikage) is actually a cousin of Storm-Shadow.
No other Joe female would've let herself get her butt slapped by Falcon. Imagine if she had joined him in Night Force.
I have that Special Missions issue. She does have nice legs, and that kick on Cobra Commander (both the cover and in a panel).

I liked it because it would've made for an interesting relationship-all the more so since Snake Eyes personally recruited Jinx for the GI Joe Team.
I liked it because it was story book. We see romances that start out as rivalries all the time in film and TV. Think B'Elanna Torres and Tom Paris in Star Trek Voyager or Ziva and Dinozzo in NCIS. I would have liked to see more of this.
A romance between Duke's half brother & Snake Eyes' daughter' would've been cool. A-hem. Pardon me but when has Jinx EVER been considered Snake Eyes' daughter? If there's a reference please point that out cause that one blew past me.
Ditto, seeing how would've interacted with Scarlett (in the comics they're best friends)
Was this in the Image/Devil's due comics? Don't recall ever seeing this in the Larry Hama/Marvel age. Please let me know as I haven't really collected comics in such a long time.
in the cartoons would've been a nice touch 'cause Scarlett never had a real friend among the female Joes in the cartoons. (She & Lady Jaye were more like rivals & colleagues, not essentially friends.) Also can you point out where you get that from. Don't recall seeing any eps where they went against each other, unless we're also counting the Renegade cartoon. If we are, then forgive me. I don't really consider anything outside of Marvel and Sunbow 'REAL' canon.
Call me an elitist, lol.

All in all, I liked the Falcon/Jinx love story we got from the movie. I found it charming.
ScarlettShana 10-14-2013, 12:19 PM I love Falcon/Jinx relationships. I love to see their complicated relationships. They were couple and they broke up in my fanfiction. But I see Jinx as Storm Shadow's sister.
Also I didn't know that Jinx is Scarlett's best friend. I thought her best friend is Lady Jaye. She's tomboy too.
In the Marvel & DDP comic series, its hinted that Scarlett and Jinx are close friends, if not BFFs ala Sam, Clover and Alex of Totally Spies! (Yes, I also watch that series and I love it!) Its evident in comics like GI Joe #91 (where Jinx saves Scarlett's life), and Spec. Missions #24. Its more evident in the DDP run-its one of the ideas Josh Blaylock developed that I really liked as both Scarlett & Jinx not only have ties to Snake Eyes, but their backgrounds are similar: They both started studying the martial arts at a young age (Scarlett at age 9; Jinx at age 7), and have families devoted to the martial arts business. They are both attractive, and both are high ranking intelligence specialists.
Regarding Lady J and Scarlett, Larry Hama always depicted them more as rivals than as friends. In her dossier in GI Joe #110, Larry writes that Lady J has had 'an antagonistic relationship with Scarlett from the very beginning. This has NEVER been resolved'; and Larry created both characters. Honestly, a reason I never liked Lady J is her tomboy attitude , and her having a vain, egotistical persona in the cartoons where she thinks she's so good looking. If possible, I say, Hasbro make arrangement with Marathon-Mystery Animation and kill off Lady Jaye, bringing in Clover from Totally Spies to take over her role if a mission needs a Covert Ops specialist. At least Clover's easier on the eyes. :)
RedSkullCobra 08-25-2017, 03:08 PM Everyone! For the last time, Jinx is Storm Shadow's COUSIN! Her name is Kim "Kimiko" Arashikage. SS is Thomas Arashikage.
That was the reason why Snake-Eyes recruited her. It helped in jumpstarting SS's defection.
