I'm pretty sure this isnn't a variant since I've never scene another one like it, but I thought I'd post it up here for everyone. My brother came across this one back in '90 while stocking shelves at Toys 'r us. This is an MOC Hasbro Topside but he has Freefalls head. The bubble is perfect and 100% attached so there's no possible way this is a custom. My guess is that they had a head war at the factory and a Freefall ended up in the Topside head vat. :)

Here's some more pics of the Topside MOC.

And for the people that have emailed me about whether it's for sale, I may let it go for the right price so send me your offers.

interesting
the both figs were released in the same year
but i never heard of such an error or variant

can you get a close up of the figure itself?

am sure speculators here would request pics of the side
of the card as well...

Tonight when I get home, I'll get a bunch of different close ups and side shots for the skeptics. Yeah, I've never scene anything like this one before either.

Some things about the close ups scream reseal to me but I'll let some of the MOC collectors chime in.
in the second pic, under the Gi Joe logo on the white border to the right it looks like it was ripped.
second of all the bubble is crooked and the "waffle marks" where the bubble was sealed up don't match up with the marks on the card back. look at the inside of his left leg on the card back ad up where "a real american hero" is.

Looks fishy to me.

This definitely isn't a reseal. I can pull out every MOC I own and you can find discrepancies like the ones that were pointed out...does that mean every one I own might be a reseal? I'm tellin you, you can try 100 times to try and reseal a Joe and you'll NEVER get anywhere near as close to an actual MOC.
