View Full Version : What do you drive?
YELSEW 04-26-2006, 01:04 PM Going with my other thread (Do you have a personalized license plate?), what do you drive?
I drive a Black 2006 Dodge Charger RT.
I will be trading it in for the Dodge Charger SRT-8 AWD (if they make it) and hopefully in 2007 or 2008 I will be obtaining the Challenger. I trade often! (I am a big Dodge fan!)
My wife drives a 2006 VW Passat.
What do you drive?

cthulhu522 04-26-2006, 01:10 PM A 1995 GMC Jimmy with 214,000 miles... Still runs like it is almost new...
I will drive it until the day it dies...
YELSEW 04-26-2006, 01:14 PM I have had my Charger since June of 2005 and it only has 5,000 miles on it. If I decide to keep it, I will have very very low miles on it. I just do not like keeping vehicles for very long. Guess if it was a Dodge Viper though I wouldn't have a problem with keeping it! Or maybe a Lotus Elise.
danielmd06 04-26-2006, 01:42 PM That's a pretty white corvette, Nick.
I myself drive a black 2005 Mustang GT convertible. I just love gas prices.
carnage717 04-26-2006, 02:23 PM I drive a '99 Pontianc Trans Am WS-6 Ram Air. I love gas prices as well, Im luck if I get 200 miles to a tank of gas. Im thinking about garaging my Trans Am and buying a new car, probably a Dodge Charger RT or maybe the Dodge Ram with the Viper Engine in it. The wifes already sold on the Charger but Im trying to talk her into the Ram.

orionlukteel 04-26-2006, 02:51 PM I drive a green '04 Nissan Xterra, switch off occasionally with my wife's '04 Mustang convertible :D
Best part? Get to use the company GMC work truck WITH the company gas card (until they give the truck to anotehr office, anyway). Saved about $350 in gas over the past 6 weeks.
GIJoeCollector 04-26-2006, 03:21 PM My daily driver is a White 2004 Saturn Ion... boring.
But my baby is my project car... Inaugural Year 1976 Dodge Aspen Special Edition 2-Door Coupe with the Slant Six... only a little over 14,000 of this model made, but probably only 4 actually made it this long (ok, maybe a few more). I plan to customize her... as money allows. I just recently got her running again, so I have been driving her more than the Ion, but with gas prices the way they are, that won't be the case for much longer.
Here are a couple pics:

I had a blue 2005 Mustang GT Convertible but had to trade it in because my Ford dealership could not fix the gas tank problem and other problems. The car was a blast to drive I must have just gotten a $33,000 lemon. I traded it for a 2006 Toyota Avalon and I also have a 2002 Toyota 4Runner sport edition.

My wife actually traded in her '02 Ford Ranger Off-Road POS as a $26K lemon, got the '04 Mustang in compensation with two years left of payments and nothing more. Knock on wood, the Stang hasn't caused any problems yet. We also have a theory that since my wife has a veteran's plate on it, she hasn't been pulled over as she should have been. :D
I should add that she had a 95 4Runner she gave to her dad when she bought the POS and the Toyota is still going strong in the Pennsylvania snow.
danyanda 04-26-2006, 05:19 PM Wife has a 00 Nissan Altima and I have a 95 Passat, but right now I am riding the old mountain bike to work (only 10 miles) so gas is hurting me a tad less than it would.
thorn 04-27-2006, 01:48 AM i have an F350 with duel wheels/ diesel/ dump lift for working (and occasional shopping) but my ride is my bike,

getting on the bridge over the weekend, splitting lanes i passed no less than 700 cars. thats actually a low estimate, and only for the toll area.

picollogoku 04-27-2006, 03:26 PM Well when I was a little umm "younger" I owned this 1973 buick centurion. It had a brown leather ragtop, brown leater interior, 22 inch triple gold daytons, to 15inch subs in the trunk, 454 cubic inch engine(11 miles to the gallon) with a two step cam. I bought it with 12,000 miles on it from an old lady on the beach for 8,000, put 10,000 into it sold it with 31,000miles on it for 32,000. Nice profit but I stare at this pic every day wondering why I let her make me sell it......:( :( :(

When I got married however my wife felt in was to much of a connection to my "old ways" as she puts it.
OK heres the don't laugh part......We now drive two 2005 corollas, one gun metal, one blue.
You can cry with me if you want, I won't tell.......

Icebreaker 04-28-2006, 07:34 PM A '95 Taurus Wagon.
Ya know, I really like wagons. I liked the '91 Taurus I had before this one, but, other than hauling people and groceries, it was pretty useless, imo. With my Wagon, just having that little additional space and very easy gate access at the rear, well, it just makes a car SO much more useful. Wagons rock! (well, imo.)
(On the bad side, this particular wagon has been quite the questionable vehicle over the years. I bought it from Northtown Ford, Menomonie, WI, just so ya'll know...I'd really question this dealership if you happen to be in the area....many promises....little after-sale anything. Just a little BBB type FYI.)
ttfndude 04-29-2006, 10:13 PM I drive a 90 Ford Taurus. It is a little beat up but than I don't drive it soft either I am suprised how much it can take. Tough little drive. I used to drive a 81 Volvo wagon that everyone called the volvonater yeah the wagon was a bit pimped out so it had to go:( . That whole marriage thing. I would love to get a newer model volvo but I figure no car is worth more than $5000 just has to get you from here to there.

Shogi 04-29-2006, 10:39 PM 02 Dodge Neon. Gas isn't so bad, it's the 59 mile round trip to work and back that's killing me :)
zartan74 04-30-2006, 11:01 AM Right now I am driving my 2002 mineral grey hard top mustang. But I do have another truck I drive as well a 1998 F150 maroon pickup. Both are very good vehicals to me.

96 s-10, it has 266,823 miles. yeah. it's gonna be here a while. my wife has a 96 windstar. she needs the head gaskets fixed. only 163,00 too. told her she shoulda got a chevy, but she got it for a steal anyway.

Nice... I am all about buying them cheap and driving them forever. My last car had nearly 300k before I I finally "upgraded". My dad had an old Toyota pickup that had an engine rebuilt at about 350k, and my grandpa used it for years after that. Last I knew, it was still around somewhere being used on a farm for something...
Glad to see I am not the only one... :)
oLd ScHoOl ToYs 08-15-2009, 06:40 PM 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T, Black and Slate Grey. I had them take off the chrome fuel filler door. I wanted it jet black.
Love the car, can't see out the back for Shish, you get use to it.
Anyone looking at one of these know this. The tires stick way out from the curved body. Those Mopar splash guards are crap. I got some cool low profile guards and put them on about a week ago. They make-em for all sorts of cars to include the Camaro. Just google them, absolutely worth it.
PFunk 08-15-2009, 08:14 PM My daily driver is a 1990 Eagle Talon. Just put a cold air intake on it. I'll put a sport exhaust on it, but that's it. I could make it a TSi if I wanted to yank out the back axle. I don't.
I'm going to try to go as long as I can without a car payment. When it cannot be avoided, I plan to get a Ford extended cab F-150. I refuse to buy a GM vehicle now that the government owns it, plus my past experience with Chevrolet trucks has not been pleasant. Had a 1500 in college that gave me nothing but problems. The 350 in it was the only good thing about the truck, because those particular engines are bulletproof.
I did have an F-150 with the old 300 inline-6. That sucker was indestructible.

The Enemy 08-16-2009, 12:15 AM I've had a 1995 BMW M3 for the past two years. I love the car, but as expected, not cheap to maintain! Totally worth it for the driving experience, though. I've got aftermarket stuff done to it (AC Schnitzer suspension and exhaust, short shift kit, intake, chip), and I love the way it sounds!
I have to find another 2nd car to drive in the winter. I had a 96 Acura Integra but sold it a couple of months back. Before that, I had a 94 Volvo 850 Turbo wagon w/ 310k miles on it! It ran great and looked good, too! I go through cars like crazy. I've had close to 30 in the past 10 years. If I keep one more than a year, that means I really like it. The M3 is one of those.
I had a brand-new 05 WRX for 2 years, also. I liked it a lot, and it's the only new car I've had, but the insurance/payments/registration were silly. I realized it wasn't worth it to me, and got an older car again. Even w/o a warranty, I still prefer the M3 (I do most of my own work).

WRX = cop bait.
The Enemy 08-16-2009, 07:23 PM WRX = cop bait.
Mine was pretty low-key. Stock-looking, no wing, Crystal Grey Metallic color. I had a Cobb Stage 2 tune w/ downpipe and exhaust, but that was it.
But yeah, you see SO many with body kits, wings, loud exhausts, etc, driven by kids. It has replaced the Civic as the boy racer car of choice. That's one reason I wanted something different.
CobraLALALALA 08-17-2009, 12:35 AM 1983 Yugo wagonette somtimes I whip out the Renault when I'm feeling sporty.

It is awesome to drive.
Propaedeutic 08-24-2009, 09:25 AM Since 2004, I have driven a coppery-brown 2001 Saturn SL1. It's had no problems and still gets about 30 miles per gallon. Before that, I had a white 1989 Buick LeSabre with a black vinyl top.

Why is it cop bait?
The Enemy 09-07-2009, 11:45 AM Why is it cop bait?
Because a 3ft tall wing, hood scoop, loud exhaust, and big wheels stand out pretty well...............
That, and cops know cars like that are driven by younger kids usually, who are very likely to be speeding. It may or may not be true, but it's just a fact.

They still have to prove anything before a guilty verdict and the egomaniacs typically drive Evos from what I've experienced. In fact some idiot in a silver Evo 8 tried to race me in my sentra last year, I didn't race him of course because it's retarded stupid all of the above yet the moron still floored it. He must have floored it pretty hard I heard the car even with my windows up.
The Enemy 09-07-2009, 11:55 AM They still have to prove anything before a guilty verdict.
That's not the point. You are less likely to draw attention to yourself if you want to drive "spiritedly" with something less conspicuous. If you aren't speeding in the first place, then you shouldn't have anything to worry about, no matter how obnoxious the car is. That's just the way it is.

I have no problem then I'm a good driver. Even in my spec v but I don't let slowpokes hinder my driving I go around them.

Volleydan 09-08-2009, 03:47 PM Since I became a homeowner, a dad, and overall a much more *ahem* responsible member of society, I have been driving a 1994 GMC Sierra X-Cab.
It's killing me because I have always driven sports cars, but at least I got to put a good stereo in it - and it was a little inconvenient trying to get furniture home in my Firebird.....

Not true. I was driving my old 77 Impala across a local bridge. I was in the right lane doing 55 mph (limit is 65) getting passed left and right. There was an FHP car sitting on the side who had just let a car go after getting a citation. The cop saw my car, jumped in his cruiser and turned his lights on. I was confused but of course pulled over. The cop then looked at me and said he clocked me at 79:confused: . I asked the cop how he clocked me while running to his car. He wasn't happy and told me how I'm lucky that he didn't make it more. So I told him "I'll see you in court. Don't forget to bring the video of me getting passed by the moped". He was mad because I caught him but then it got better. He wrote me a ticket for having a headlight out! It was sunny and 2 o clock in the afternoon  . Needless to say at court (yes the idiot actually showed up) the judge drilled him a new one. My only crime was driving a candy red Impala with 22" spinners. Sold that car after I was pulled over about 5 more times and never once given a ticket.

Serves you right for driving that thing. Profiling happens.
We don't have to worry about that crap here in Maine. The roads are so bad that anyone foolish enough to have wheels like that soon realizes what a mistake they've made.

Around here the boy racer car of choice seems to be the 3000GT I see a ton of them on the road plus civics and integras. The other day I saw an integra that had been lowered quite a bit. I see alot of 1990's model eclipses too. I don't know why the green eclipse from the first movie was so popular.
