Howdy boys and girls. Welcome to contest number two. Lowlight was the winner of the 84 Rattler in contest one. Picollogoku was the winner of the 84 Slugger & 82 MMS. I'm in the process of liquidating 90% of my 80s G.I. Joe collection to help buy a house. Selling can tend to get a little boring, so I thought I'd mix it up a little, again for the third and final time.

I'm giving away two incomplete 1985 Cobra Moray Hydrofoils.

There are two deadlines for this contest. The first is June 17th. The second is June 30th. First you need to create a single comic book page with at least four frames with G.I. Joe artwork or computer generated art. Do not enter any text in the frames. If you would like a character to be saying something, use a small "V" shape where the comment bubble is supposed to be. This will allow the second person doing the text to enter whatever they like without the confinds of a small comment bubble. An example pic is attached. The deadline for the comic is June 17th. On June 18th, I will take all of the entries and randomly assign them to someone other than the person who did the original art or computer art. Only people who have submitted a comic will be allowed to participate in the second phase of the contest. The person assigned to do the text on the other person's comic will have until June 30th. Both the original comic and the comic with the text need to be in this thread by the deadlines.

One winner will be assigned for the best art and another for the best text.

Artwork or computer graphics need to be posted in this forum. PMs or emails do not qualify. The freebie includes shipping to anywhere in the lower 48 states. Anywhere else, you still get the free G.I. Joe stuff, but shipping comes out of your pocket. Enter as many times as you like.

So let me get this straight, are you saying we use scans of Joe artwork or something we drew on the computer? Or can we just draw stuff and take a pic (or scan it) and post that here?

You can either draw something then scan it or take a pic of it

or

you can use a paint program any way you see fit and then post it. There might be copyright like issues if you "borrow" someone elses drawing without modifiying it.

You are correct. Create a comic, any way you see fit, without words and little "V" marks where characters are supposed to be talking.

so how many people are actually doing this? Personally, I've done the pencils for mine, I just need to ink and color it

I'm gonna give this a go.. for sure.. I'm entering of course for the sake of it though.. I already own the Hydrofoil complete .. so I'm entering on the basis I'll have lots of fun. If I win.. then cool.. my cobra sea forces will be better than my joe ones.. which at present is almost none existent!!

I have to put together some characters first.. and an idea roughly.. then its just a case of snapping the pictures.

Nah not so much Ryan. Brain doesnt have a hydrofoil. I already have one complete with pilot and accessories. Its not rocket science. Its an amicable solution. Your an honest guy.. so if you think my entry is good enough and I win I am letting you know I forfeit my prize.
I wasnt saying that I will win it.. just if I do. I am entering for the spirit and fun of the competition and for camera shot practice. Getting an incomplete hydrofoil now would only add to my list of headaches (incomplete vehicles)
Seeing also that Brain is closer to you than he is to me. Then it would save shipping.
The alternative would be for me to claim the hydrofoil (again if won) and brain pays me the shipping to send it to him.

I've had a couple of questions on how do do both the speech and thought bubbles. You should only begin the thought or speech bubble. This allows the person doing the text for it to make it as large or as small as they like. If you draw the complete bubble, they are restricted on how much text they can add. I've attached a pic.

I'll be painting these whenever i get any free time, school takes up so much of it right now... Also, this is my first time at sequential art and using photoshop to put pics together this way, pretty cool process actually :)

Since NEF decided to help Brain, I'll make this easy (even without text on the third cartoon). I'm awarding three prizes. Since NEF was kind enough to give his entries away to Brain, we really only had three contestants. Three contestants, three prizes, I bet most of the boys and girls at home can see where this is going. Brain, if you answered "Cleveland," you are disqualified.

To quash the suspense, here are the winners -

Shogi & Deadman2099 - excellent art, great text from both of you guys. I guess the Carolinas rule the day on the art side of things.
Team NemBrain - The UK side had some excellent pics. Brain, you've got both gumption and tenacity in bulk.

Last Thursday 106 auctions all ended on ebay on the same day.. so I have been :eek: Busy running round finding boxes and packing toys up what with this and the World Cup too!. For this the opportunity to sit down and complete the 3rd cartoon was few and far between. I did manage to do the cartoon just couldnt get it submitted. So just for fun here is the 3rd entry. Be Nice :)

I'd love to see a joint venture between Deadman2099 & Shogi. You guys should join forces and create a comic. Maybe something like "Carolina Cobra" or "Charolette Cobra." In the south Cobra has realized the mobility in Nascar. Nascar trucks frequently shuttle the stock cars across the country. No one would be the wiser if they were transporting Stinger Night Attack Jeeps instead of cars . . . . . . .

At some point, yes. Long story short, I don't have a way to put them online right now. My little network is kind of messed up. I've either got a router or virus problem with the desktop computer the images are on. I don't want the laptop I'm using to get the same problem(s) the other computer has. I'm not entirely sure the old pc is 100%. I ran about an hour of antivirus and antispyware before burning a cd. I'm waiting on a new router and then possibly a network card. If you hadn't asked to see the pics it may have taken me a month to post them.

Shogi made that one tough to add text to, but that's impressive. What else would Cobra Commander do in Iowa?

Thank you man, this vehicle is too awesome... i got it today(thursday) and it's wicked. I've never seen a Hydrofoil in person so i've been messing with it all day... even took it apart and cleaned it pretty thouroughly it was fun man. thank you :D

I also got mine yesterday, funny enough, it had a few parts mine was missing (mostly depth charges) Thanx man!
