OK, not too tough, but it will take a little effort, so be creative!

All board members are eligible, regardless of what country you're in. Three easy steps:

Slap together an LBC
Keep it simple, as long as it's an LazyBoy(*)Custom, it's a level playing field - no reason to let real talent tilt the scales!
Make a filecard
If you want to make it yourself, great, if you want to use something like the fc creator at JoeCustoms (http://www.joecustoms.com/filecards/filecards.php), that's good too.
Post them here!
Post them any way you want. You can put them up as attachments (as long as they aren't too big) or put them up here (http://photos.yojoe.com/) or somewhere else like photobucket (http://photobucket.com/) & link to them.

The contest will run until Midnight of the 24th - the last Saturday before the con. To make it even easier, I'm not even going to bother to pick the prize (well - it's easier for me :o ). The winner of the contest can take their pick of anything on my trade list (http://forums.yojoe.com/showthread.php?t=19921) at the time the contest ends.

tips -

Weapons are good, but not neccessary
Filecards are necessary, but full cardbacks are not (back to that "talent required" thing)
RAH & New Sculpt are both good
Practical & humorous are both good
Have Fun!

Major Twist
aerobics workout specialist

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/yojoeicebreaker/Aerobicinstructor.jpg

filename: Simmons, R.
birthplace: classified
primary MOS: aerobics instructor
secondary MOS: interrogation

The elite GIJOE team needs to be in elite physical condition. Sgt. Slaughter is the first half of this training equation, then to top off the 'Joe's exercise routine, Major Twist takes over for the most intense aerobic workouts known to the modern world. Utilizing his multi-purpose headset/ microphone, Major Twist motivates the GIJOE team no matter how impossible the workout may seem. Whether it be sweating to the oldies or kickin' it new school with tae-bo, Major Twist doesn't let anyone slack. Major Twist also sports a large library of tunes ranging from pop to polka.

From General Hawk's file: "The man just never stops moving. He is constantly running around the PIT shouting motivational cheers. I didn't think I'd ever see the 'Joes sweat worse than a bite of Gung-ho's cajun gumbo, but I was wrong!"

Dude, that is just so wrong to do that to someone when they're drinking soda.
Now my nostrils are all tingly.

Does the LBC have to be an original character or can it be an established character that you've emulated?

Anything is good.

ranger_jer

Well I just put in Scout (my LBC entry) onto the Joe collection link you listed, hope it worked I'd never used that before. Check him out let me know what you think. I think he is pretty sweet for an LBC.

I had previously shown this character in my first ever "test" diostory and here he is, with just the lower half modified:

http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a358/coderedshockwave/LAME_Squad/?action=view&current=Picture.jpg

http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a358/coderedshockwave/LAME_Squad/?action=view&current=1151095934profile.gif

Banana Head is the leader of the infamous L.A.M.E. (Lame Amateurs Minus Experience) Squad. He pretends to be powerful, yet is nothing more than a pitiful coward that counts on his other members to do all the dirty work for him. The only time he can ever beat anyone by himself is if he sneaks up on someone from behind. Sooner or later though, his ego will get the best of him and someone will teach him a hard lesson.

"Get him, boys. I'll just stay here and wait for the right moment to fight."

Unfortunately there is a problem, I can't decide which I like best. Are there any objections to turning it into a poll? There are no more entries allowed, & my trade list is closed until the final decission is made - that way nothing that was available at the original end of the contest can be removed. The poll would run for one more week, midnight of Saturday, July first. I would like input from all five who sent entries - otherwise the tiebreaker will be a hat draw.

Thanks again for the great entries!
I'll set the poll up now to allow as many replies as we can get, but will pull it at the first objection, as it wasn't part of the original game.

***edit
Looks like I can't set a specific end time for the poll, just a number of days, so the poll will run until 9:31 AM CDT on Sunday, July 2nd.

Patrick A. Riley
06-25-2006, 11:16 AM
If you can't decide, then this is the best way. But, if the poll winner is one you wouldn't have picked, then it's not so good (unless you like all 5 of them equally). Hopefully, there will be a lot of votes placed. Better than a hat draw, eventhough I've had good luck with random drawings in the past (but not recently) ;)

Instead of closing your trade list, maybe the 5 of us could simply PM or e-mail you what our choice would be if we won. That way, you can just hold those items and keep the rest of your trade list available

code red shockwave
06-25-2006, 02:52 PM
Well since the poll is open to everyone, chances are the five us will vote for our own customs.

This would have made the "public poll" option a useful feature for once.
Then we could see who voted for what. Not that it matters though

I'll be at the con for most of the poll anyway, so closing the trade list for a week is no big deal.

Well since the poll is open to everyone, chances are the five us will vote for our own customs.
I would think so, but there is still at least one who hasn't yet...

C'mon guys, your own vote could make the difference!

I haven't voted for myself, so I'm wondering who actually has voted for me.....

I never even heard of this contest until someone (won't say who) got ahold of me and asked me to vote for their figure. Then I got on here and had a couple of PMs from a couple of others (still won't mention who or how many) asking the same thing. So, instead of going off of solicitations, I am going on honest opinion. And my vote went to Beach Head unmasked. Come on, now... everyone who knows me knows Sgt. Sneeden is my favorite character. :D

-Jim

PS: Not to mention, that is the one that looked like a releasable character.

None of those came from me. That's not how I roll
How sad

I knew something was fishy here, as I never got quick turnouts like this on my Army Builder polls with just a link in my sig

For the first time, I want a poll to be public
Again, how sad :(

I don't like public polls. Can't really give a specific reason, but I think making a poll public will hinder the voting. There's a certain security with being able to vote any way you'd like with complete anonymity. I understand your reasoning, & it does make sense, but I'm going to keep the poll private.

This is getting ridiculous now. I didn't know I'd have to compete with begging for votes in a "spam fest" of PM's and e-mails. That's just taking all the fun out of it

Well, since I won't beg anyone to vote for me in this, just vote in my army builder polls, so at least those will be fair

I normally don't like them either. It's a pretty worthless feature. I'd rather have the ability to delete my own posts (like we could before) or be able to change the titles of threads that are more than 90 days old

Wow...if Don keeps getting this many votes at this rate, he's a shoo-in.

By the way, Patrick, it was a joke. If you seen the movie with Martin Lawrence and Danny Devito(I forgot the name of it), you'd get how funny it was. Sorry, didn't mean to offend anybody with that.

Hmmmm, I think Don was behind that cause he doesn't want me to win. :D Seriously though, thanks for the kind words. Uzi is my favorite character, though I am most proud of Beachhead. There has never been a Beachhead made that I've cared for, but I love the character. Anywho, good luck to everyone who is participating.

I know. My two army builder polls combined have the same amount of total votes that he has and mine have been open for over 6 days each!

I have a link in my sig too, but it's not generating the same turnout he's getting
Guess I better start sending PMs too. Clean out your Inboxes people, you're about to get more vote soliciting spam. :p

In Don's defense, he did PM me and point out the thread, but he didn't try and bum a vote off of me. I wound up voting for his because I lied it best, and I voted before I realized it was his. I wish I could have voted for more than one though. Major Twist is by far the funniest, and Bananahead is the silliest, while the Grand Slam and unmasked Beachhead are my two favorites as far as if I had them I would use them. Scout was pretty cool, just too recognizable as Spirit IMHO.
