karamazov80 10-05-2007, 11:31 PM Huh, that's strange. I may stop by tomorrow and see if that is the case around here. It definitely sounds like some kind of mistake if figures were 25 cents. . .
Huh? I'm very confused. Seems it's a bit early for wave 5. You also state they are 6.99 in the title, but then say you got some for $.25. I'm just not sure what you are trying to say.
karamazov80 10-05-2007, 11:38 PM I thought he meant he got the five packs for 6.99 (hence "box sets"), and single packs for 25 cents, but I'm not absolutely certain, either. Getting the 25ths at the dollar store is certainly news to me.

Free Fall 10-05-2007, 11:43 PM Are you telling me Dollar General sells figures???? I never would have thought they had anything besides army men, im definitely checking my nearest one tomorow.
Derek2783 10-06-2007, 12:08 AM what is Dollar General?
paurru1980 10-06-2007, 12:23 AM you dont know what a Dollar general store or a Family Dollar store is? you need to get out more dude.
Family dollar stores or dollar general stores are well its hard to explain what they are. All you need to know is that you can find cheap toys like crappy wrestling figures that are non WWE for just a buck. Even new movies for DVDs can be sold at 5 to 10 bucks
Clothes from 3 to 10 bucks which is cheaper than what you see at Walmart for one thing
Im surprised that whoever found the new GI Joe figures at a dollar general store is a lucky man. last time I saw a dollar store selling good stuff like that was way back in 1995 when the new Power of the Force 2 figures for Star Wars were being sold

The Dollar Tree (I think, though maybe its Dollar General, I don't know. . .) around here sells some of the relatively old (I guess 2-3 year old), RAH-style Joes on really small cards for 2 dollars each, and you can get knock off Arielbots and Protectocons, all 5, with the connector pieces to make the big bots, for 5 bucks each. Its obviously directed to poor kids, and we have a lot of those here (I meant dollar stores, but poor kids, too), as I live near LSU, which is a bunch of mostly rich, white kids huddled together in one small area, immediately surrounded by a really large, poor, urban area with high crime, gun shots ringing out through the night, and lots of stray dogs running around (where, coincidentally, I live because I'm a grad student!). . .how did I get here with this discussion?
Facemeat 10-06-2007, 01:35 AM
$6.99??? Dollar General???
I need to see a reciept. :p
If this is indeed true though, I NEED to get to a Dollar General.

True that!
WildWeasel 10-06-2007, 02:20 AM Why do I find this hard to believe? I mean Hasbro can't keep regular stores like Target, Wal-Mart, TRU and Kmart stocked with 25th Anniversary stuff and they are already stocking "dollar stores" with them? I think there is a misunderstanding/miscommunication here.
seaslug 10-06-2007, 04:26 AM DOLLAR GENERALS ARE NOT EVERYWHERE. THIS SHOULD BE KNOWN, OTHER WISE I PICKED UP 12 9 BACK V1 CC LIKE 50 GOLD STEEL BRIGADE FOR 25 CENTS EACH, OH AND THE CHECK OUT GIRL ( WELL I COULD HAVE PICKED UP THE CHECKOUT GIRL BUT SHE WAS TOOTHLESS AND WELL ATE ALL THE FIGURES AND 800 POUNDS OF SPAM) WHICH WAS KINDA HOT BUT I HAD TO PASS.mmmmmmmmmSPAM
Syna3sthesia 10-06-2007, 07:47 AM That's the same price as TRU....I may be able to find some there but the price is not that much of a help!!!
Shogi 10-06-2007, 08:01 AM That's the same price as TRU....I may be able to find some there but the price is not that much of a help!!!
Not really, he's saying he found the Wave 2 Cobra Legions 5 pack for $6.99 and the Family Dollar/ Dollar General VvV singles for 25 cents

hmm... haven't all of the 5 packs been in the 25-30 dollar range at retail?
not that i've found the first 2 yet :P
but $6.99 is kind of hard to believe. unless it was a pricing error or the dollar general/family dollar got some deal on them. geh... i guess i'll be digging around those stores again....

Oh...holy smoke!!!!
Time to attack my Dollar General store!
Taichiro 10-06-2007, 09:09 AM Don't be too hasty.
we don't have any pics or proof.
ThMick 10-06-2007, 10:42 AM My wife manages a Family Dollar, and tells me that neither Family Dollar, nor Dollar General, now stock or ever plan to stock 25th anniversary GI Joe, and furthermore, since all their distribution is done through computerized DSD, even if a store was mistakenly shipped some, they couldn't put it on the shelves, because it wouldn't be on the schematics, couldn't be printed tags for, and couldn't ring up at the (laser scan) register, as there are no SKU's for 25th product in the computer.
skinny 10-06-2007, 11:13 AM So a Hasbro truck is ripping on down the highway and hits a huge pot hole. BAM the back doors fly open and a manager from Dollar General is driving behind it. A pallet of 25th 5 packs bounces out and barely misses the guys car. Hearing screeching behind him the truck driver pulls over to see what is going on.
Embarassed the guy wants to get out of there as fast as possible. the manager cuts a deal with him, give him twenty cases of GIJOE 25ths and they will call it even. The driver loads up the guys car hops back in his truck and when he makes his delivery they just writes it off as being short a pallett, "guess someone forgot a pallet at the dock in China " he says. Meanwhile the manager at the dollar general seels them under the counter and keeps the dough!
just a hypothesis totally fictional
Derek2783 10-06-2007, 12:03 PM ... so f$%#@% confused....
TristanH72 10-06-2007, 02:31 PM Correct me if I'm wrong...
But doesn't Dollar General only have prices rounded off to the nearest Dollar?
So it'd have to be $7, not $6.99
karamazov80 10-06-2007, 02:48 PM Correct me if I'm wrong...

Maybe you're thinking of the Dollar Tree as well :p
samluvsjoes 10-06-2007, 03:06 PM Maybe you're thinking of the Dollar Tree as well :p
Dollar Tree only sells things for a dollar.
Sam (The man who lives in the home of Dollar Tree)

I am almost positive you're right!
Just as I am almost positive that the guy who started this post is pulling our legs!
Sam
statesofeuphoria 10-06-2007, 03:16 PM Yup I actually went to several this morning. Everything is either a whole dollar amount $1,$2,etc. or in increments of .50- $1.50, $2.50 etc. I think either this guy is confused or blowing smoke. Family Dollar's prices are like this as well. FD did have single carded VVV figs for $2 though.
Zombie F-Body 10-06-2007, 08:13 PM Without pics next to a receipt, I'm inclined to call shenanigans on this.
quintonarledge 10-06-2007, 08:42 PM This has got to be total B.S.
A 25A Cobra Legions box set at Dollar General for $5.99...... dude, it is not April 1. Do not make bogus threads and don't start threads stating things if you have no idea what you're talking about.
thetruth1013 10-06-2007, 09:24 PM Without pics next to a receipt, I'm inclined to call shenanigans on this.
Shenanigans called by me as well..
Facemeat 10-06-2007, 11:17 PM Maybe they were loose for $6.99 each.
Maybe the manager stopped at a couple Targets on his lunch break, got some 5 packs, hid drugs in them, and needed to get rid of them at any and all costs as this was inspection day.
OR maybe this entire thread is a sick joke.
themoney75 10-06-2007, 11:18 PM i think this is a big joke, and not funny at all.
slim19722 10-07-2007, 02:37 AM He posted Friday, said he would provide proof tomorrow(Saturday), it's now Sunday, like everyone else, sounds like BS to me.

Soundwave Viper 10-07-2007, 05:22 PM Give us the item number on the sticker label........
Static 10-07-2007, 05:49 PM I went to Dollar General and there's nothing. They don't even know what I was talking about. On a different note, I checked out Wal-mart down the street and talked to one of the help. She told me that they were not getting any of the waves in. She doesn't know when they'll come in. I know I have to have patience, but come on. I hate reading about you guys finding your lots and I can't even get any over here. I'm actually jealous.
Goldbug 10-07-2007, 11:57 PM There are NO 25th anniversary Joes at Dollar General or Family Dollar. The only Joes that you will find there are the VvV single cards. Regular price $2.
Mine clearanced them out for .25 cents earlier this year.
It could also be that perhaps it is only soul_maker's store that had it. Don't the owners decide what to order? I doubt any other Dollar Generals would have any.
Plus wave 4 & 5 are being released next year.
AlternateUniverse Steeler 10-08-2007, 12:33 AM its pure bull
karamazov80 10-08-2007, 12:46 AM Well then, the great mystery is solved:p

Facemeat 10-08-2007, 06:58 AM Also in the dollar general i believe everything is priced at $1.
You're probably thinking of the Dollar Tree.
CobraGang 10-08-2007, 08:26 AM So this is a big hoax? I've seen the VvV at Family Dollar for $2 about a week ago, but that's it.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO to the thredstarter!! *thumbs down*
goodguyswearblack9 10-08-2007, 12:57 PM I was at Family Dollar Saturday and they had nothing; I checked there because that is where I snagged all my single pack figures awhile ago.
thelatinsensation 10-08-2007, 09:52 PM of course its a hoax, cmon guys!!! the guy has very few posts and just joined this forum. Hes just trying to be the flavour of the week!!!!
AlternateUniverse Steeler 10-08-2007, 10:17 PM If its too good to be true..............
Static 10-08-2007, 10:18 PM I don't know about you guys, but I think we've dragged this thing long enough. We all agree that this is a hoax. We all agree it was probably for attention. Can we close this thread?
rnrhero 10-09-2007, 09:55 AM I personally think it is real. Why would anyone lie about such a thing. LOL.....
