Maybe It'll be like Serpentor an updated look? Maybe his B.A. Will be like in issue 150? Either way I'll like it as long as it isnt a straight repaint of the previous mould.

Do you have pictures of this? Every Firefly I've seen has had the "fixed" crotch...It would make sense that they changed the tooling between it's use on Beach head and Firefly.

If you guys want to see which figures are going to be released just look at the artwork of the 5 packs and the cobra legions pack whatever artwork is depicted that is not a screen grab from the TV show or a comic panel is a future release ( note the IRON grenadier Destro and the red uniformed baroness looks interesting and theres a Tomax or Xamot on the corner and a BAT on the other side :) )

More frustration for the group.

All I see is the original 25th 6 figure set. I didn't think availability would be such a problem, so I didn't buy the single carded figs the first time I saw them. Alas and alack. Beachhead is probably worth 50 bucks. This is reminiscent or worse than your typical 80s situation, where they would make 1 Snake-Eyes figure for every 50 or so "Scoop the photo-journalist" crap figures, probably to up the value and make everyone drool and upset.

In one of the December Q&A's, Hasbro says Bludd and Bill are going to be in Wave 3 '08. So that would put them in this lists Wave 7 instead of 8? Could we be getting a larger Wave 3/7 to make up for Wave 2/6?

Here we go:

http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=9&itemid=12224

TNI: Will Major Bludd and Wild Bill (http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=9&itemid=12224#) also be included with Battle Armor Cobra Commander, Rock N' Roll, and Lt. Torpedo for Wave 6?

Hasbro: No, Major Bludd and Wild Bill were pushed back to Wave 3 of 2008. When you see the results, you will agree it was worth the wait.

No he isn't, but the 25th Anniversary logo is on his card and this is why some collectors consider him part of the line. Especially for a MOC collector he could be included...

G.I. JOE vs. COBRA 3-3/4-inch Entertainment Battle Packs

(Approximate retail price $19.99; Ages 5 & up; Available: June 2008 with additional waves throughout the year)

Images from the classic 1980s G.I. JOE cartoon series are captured in the new battle packs, which include a 5-episode mini-series DVD and 3 to 4 highly articulated 3-3/4-inch figures pulled from these episodes. The five packs slated for June release are: The MASS Device, Weather Dominator, Arise Serpentor Arise, Pyramid of Darkness, and G.I. JOE The Movie (1980s).

Anyone know which figures will be included with these battle packs?

Has there been any indication as to which direction this line will extend down? Is there any expectation on any level that eventually they could end up re-doing the whole entire line from, say, 1982 - 1989ish?

Also, I'm still waiting for an answer regarding the extent to which they will exploit the Python Patrol and Tiger Force lines.

Makes me wonder if Hasbro will incorporate the International TF & PP as well

They love doing repaints anyway, so Marujo wouldn't be too far fetched,
but Outback, Hit'n'Run, Relampago, Gatilho etc...

At this point I'm not even remotely concerned with the Int'l collection. I'm just waiting to hear/see if they plan on fleshing out the full domestic line, or at least most of it, instead of just doing TF Flint and PP Cobra Trooper, and then being done with it. They can't do a "one-and-done" thing with those paint schmes--they've gotta bring the other characters into it!!!

I think hoping for internation figures, before we even have 1/4 of the domestic line, is silly. That doesn't even make sense to me. I mean, I know Hasbro put out Red Ninja...but, was that REALLy a nudge at the internation figure Satan; or ,was that just a way for them to nudge Satan AND make the Red Ninjas from the cartoon?
...or, did they even care about Satan, and was that a flat out Red Ninja.
I've always thought they were just making the Red Ninjas from the comics...I never even thought it was supposed to be Satan.

RedClaw
02-18-2008, 03:44 PM
The card art is identical to Satan, just as IG Destro's single card art is identical to his Brazillian counter part.

We will be getting nods to international figures, I'm sure. It's too easy to put together unique figures with collector appeal and all it costs is a simple repaint.

The upcomming Snake Eyes vs. Red Ninja Troopers 5-pack has 3 troopers and a leader plus Snake Eyes.
The far left Red Ninja with the Vest would be the Red Ninja Leader.
Too bad the Sei Tin figure still doesn't have a Hood as seen in the RAH vol.2 #27 Comic.

done. I know Hasbro said we'd see a 1986-style Serpentor in '08, too. But, I'll hold of that until we here more.

The Hasbro website has The Air Chariot vs Armadillo, and it says it includes Serpentor. One could assume that is the way we will be getting the 86 style Serpentor.

I updated my list again.

I'm holding off on putting the "Arise, Serpentor, Arise", "Pyrimid of Darkness" and "GI Joe the Movie" entertainment packs on the list untilt he names of the figures are confirmed.

Also, I didn't mention the upcoming 12" figures (Flint, Dusty, Bazooka, etc.) 'cause this is a 1:18 scale site even those are classic ARAH characters.

i have only seen a couple pre-Wave 4 figures (Buzzer, Shipwreck) in my 6 relatively convenient Wal-Marts and 5 kind-of-local Targets. just the rubbish ones that nobody really wants.

They will probably release some of the older figures with the next wave 6 batch. Being that there are only three wave 6 figures, that leaves room for five other figures which could be from any wave. I still doubt that they'll release SE v2 or SS v2, since there are several different versions of these characters available throughout the waves. But, Cobra Officer did make a come-back enough for me to acquire six of them at WalMarts after Christmas. I thought I had missed my chance to get any, much less six of them. He was originally in the same wave as SS/SE v2, so who knows what could happen! Hooded CC was also in that wave, and we still see him pop up a lot. Flint and Lady Jaye, I wouldn't worry about them showing up again. Even if they don't then you're not missing anything. The multi-pack version of Lady Jaye looks way better than the wave 2 version; I mean wave 2 L-J is uuuuuugly from the neck up.

Which wave are we up to, 9? I've seen these listed a few different places in the past hour or so:
Duke, Tiger Force
Cobra Bazooka Trooper
Croc Master
Mutt w/ Junkyard
ParaViper
Wraith
Nothing real reliable for sources, mostly I heard, he said, she said etc... and one I work there & found this... Hopefully there is something to it, I'd love to see a Wraith figure!

that better not be true. that would be the worst wave thus far. another stinkin' Duke, and Croc Master - one of the worst Cobras ever. and who the heck is Wraith? and "Cobra Bazooka Trooper" and "ParaViper", if legit, better not just be a Cobra Trooper with a bazooka, and Viper with a parachute or something. i want to see different stuff.

Just to sorta queue you in on how the toy market works these days - there will ALWAYS be core-characters (e.g. Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Cobra Commander, Duke) on the shelves in just about every wave. Toy buyers (Wal-Mart, TRU, etc.) insist upon it these days.

Secondly, that seems like a HIGHLY plausible assortment to me and would compliment the more...original...waves like what we were shown today.

My intel on the matter suggests that Hasbro is REALLY paying close attention to what collectors are desiring and are delivering at every opportunity they can.

And just a historical note (something we'll add to the archives) the original 82 Cobra Trooper DID come with a gray-green bazooka (as well as another troop with a gray-green Grunt M-16) in either a JC Penny's or SEARS holiday wishbook multi-pack set.

I'm up for Mutt w/ JY, and the Bazooka Cobra Trooper, but the rest are... meh. I like the other potential wave 9 line-up as well, which is reported to have:

BBQ
Snow Serpent
Hawk
Bat
Bazooka
Black Storm Shadow

However, being that I grew up on the cartoon, sorta**, I feel like you just can't have Bazooka without Alpine.

** It was that I really grew up with the file cards as my main GI Joe source, and supplimented it with the cartoon.

i don't need to be queued [sic] in about the toy market. my comments were not based on plausibilty of release, but on whether or not i would want a wave to feature those figures. which i do not.

thats as well as may be, but the figure was not named Cobra Bazooka Trooper. it was just a Cobra Trooper that happened to come with a bazooka. if they are going to release the same character already released with an extra weapon, just do that. don't try any subterfuge by giving it a new name and passing it off as a new figure

but, of course, this entire discussion has been based on pure speculation about possible features of figures the existence of which is also based on pure speculation.

Cobra Flint is probably Flint in disguise as a Cobra Trooper, as seen in one of the cartoon episodes. It's kind of GI Joe's way of emulating Star Wars.

Cool, can you provide a link to your sources? I also notice that you make no mention of the other MASS device sets. We don't know who would be in them, but according to the official GI Joe product website (http://www.hasbro.com/gijoe/default.cfm?page=Products/Detail&product_id=21694), you must buy five different sets to create the entire device.

There are certain copyright issues that can't be worked around.

I think it might have something to do with this:

3. Sgt. Slaughter. Flat out, is he a possibility or not? Is he something you are pursuing or is he a lost cause?

Answer: While we love Sarge, his toy rights are currently held by the WWE who partners with another toy company. Because of this, we are currently unable to do a Sarge figure.

That, and the little issue of the price point. Rumor has it that retail on this set will be $59.99.

On one hand, that's not bad for three vehicles and seven figures. On the other hand, there's only one new figure (Short Fuze) and one new vehicle (MOBAT) in the whole set and the rest are repaints or rehashes. Plus, for some reason, Hasbro can't seem to make a decent figure of any of the "original 13"....they all look so generic.

I'm sure its been posted somewhere but since I'm new I was wondering if anyone could answer me this question.
Why has the packaging for the 25th Anniversary changed from the silver trim to white? I have the first few waves and went out tonight and picked up stuff with white border.

Volleydan
08-15-2008, 09:12 PM
I think it was because the actual 25th anniversary of the line has now passed and they went to the white border and logo to "set apart" the figures that were part of the 25th anniversary from the continuing line.

That, and I'm sure the white is cheaper to make :D .

They've also released several earlier figures on the white cards. So far, Viper, Wild Bill, and Torpedo (all of which were originally on the 25th anniversary cards) have shown up on white cards.

They seem to be doing this when the figures are part of case repacks.....

Maybe add estimated release dates for the others too.

Great suggestions. I usually print out the list and bring it to conventions. Sometimes I'll ask for something and they'll tell me it won't be released for five months.

I'm in favour of:
- Marking ones that have already been released.
- Release dates for others if known

I would guess that H lost the rights to sell a figure by the name of Thunder. Sadly I'd also guess that Thunder will not be issued in an alternative form, just this one. It's all just guessing right, but they are pretty uninterested in repackaging Joe drivers once they've been included (Grand Slam, Crankcase, Slipstream, Steeler all seem unlikely to end up carded). Who knows what might come after the movie dies off though, if we keep buying them, H will probably keep making nostalgia-driven Joes.

Why do people care? I mean, unless you're a MOC/MIB collector in which case I can see the concern to maintain some uniformity in the packaging you collect. But for those of us who are just collecting the characters for the characters' sake and don't care about packaging, then what does it matter if it's not TECHNICALLY a part of the "25th line." From what I saw, this figure is still a pretty sound adaptation of the original figure.

Resolute Cobra Troopers, Commander and Duke came out months ago and sold pretty fast. Same with Blowtorch. Not sure which Firefly you are asking about, I have picked up 3-4 in the last few months.
Several of your figures in question 2 are in the new Assault on Cobra Island 7-packs. Zap, Chuckles and Recondo are in the Joe set. Mindbender and Ally Viper in the Cobra sets.

Assault On Cobra Island RELEASED JULY 2009
__SPC Altitude (Ripcord)

G.I. Joe Navy Senior Ranking Officers 3-pack [/B] RELEASED FALL 2008
__Cutter (1984 style)
__Lt. Torpedo (yellow scuba gear)

THis is the first time I've looked at this list, and it is helpful, thanks for keeping it updated.

Two questions I have though. Wouldn't Spc Altitude be better listed as (Freefall) rather than Ripcord since the filecard is that of Freefall?

Also, the SRO Torpedo is a remake of the Funskool yellow version of the figure, so perhaps saying "Funskool colors" might be appropriate as well.

John M>

Kronz

I didn't realize the Funskool Torpedo was in those colors. Most everyone I've seen mention it just called it Cartoon Torpedo, since he and a bunch of other guys in one of the original mini series wear those outfits.

As for Freefall, well that's just weird that they did that. The figure is an amalgam of three Joes, I guess. It is quite clear that SPC Altitude is supposed to be a stand-in for people who want a Rip Cord for a nice 1984 display with 25ths, muddying it up with Freefall's bio is messy. I would have preferred an entirely new bio since I would like a 25th-ish Freefall at some point, with blonde hair and pukey camo.
