View Full Version : Pics of my new Joe area and 25th display.
smokehouse 11-03-2007, 10:34 PM I’ve been sitting on doing this for some time and decided to finally get around to it. Like some here I’ve decided to keep my guys sealed on card so I’ve just hung them instead. Let me know what you guys think (and a BIG thanks to my wife for helping me out on the project!)!

karamazov80 11-03-2007, 11:24 PM Ah, Neo Geo. . .did you buy that stuff when it was astronomically expensive (is it still)? Nice game collection, btw. Unfortunately, ol' Hurricane Katrina took most of what I had left away (though it wasn't much compared to what you have).

No, actually those are Neo Geo MVS carts (arcade carts). They are FAR less expensive than the AES home carts. A converted system costs a bit more but in the end you'll save thousands on the games. Prime example (current prices):
Metal Slug AES $2000+, MVS $100
Garou Mark of the Wolves AES $500-600, MVS $80
Metal Slug 3 AES $400, MVS $50
Blazing Star AES $600-700, MVS $60
Same game in every way. As a matter of fact I had a UniBIOS installed so I can switch which version of the game I want to play (home or arcade). Every Neo Cart made has both versions and all availble languages on each cart (the BIOS chip also allows for language selection as well). I've also added "shock boxes" and professionally printed artwork so the games display nicely. Here's some shots of my "consolized" MVS, Shck boxes and what a MVS cart looks like:
MVS (I have stereo outs, S-Video and RGB. The controller outs are on the other side):

That's what I though, what a great design. I love it when boxes will display nicely together.
Great display, thanks for posting pics.
One of my cousins is a video game collector, but the amount of stuff he has fills a bedroom - completely fills, no shelving at all, but it's stacked floor to ceiling with a very narrow walkway that gives access to about ½ of it.

There was a time I was going that route but I decided against it. I finally decided that if I can't display it, I won't buy it. I do have other stuff in other areas though. I have the first 6 years of Nintendo Power and first 3 or Die Hard Game Fan Magazing in a book case, all of my hook-ups and controllers in bins and some old Atari stuff I've been meaning t sell in antoher room (800XL computer wth TONS of software, drives, etc, 2600 vader, 2600 6-switch, etc.
neapolitan joe 11-04-2007, 10:37 AM Great collection: compliments!
