I was going thru some cardbacks and noticed a Torpedo cardback on a 1985 34-back card. It looks like only certain characters made the cut to be produced on 1983,1984 and 1985. In general are these variations (1983 figs on 1985 cardbacks) hard to find?

Must be pretty rare, I thought only the current series and the one before were pictured on the card backs (except Strom Shadow). Is it a foreign card? How about the color of the card, gray or tan?

They're less available than the 32bk versions but not as rare as the 20bks, from what I've seen. Only the Destro filecard correction is notable among them as possibly worth acquiring, IMO.

I am a cardback enthusiast and this is the first one I have seen in 6 years, they are really hard to come by.

Here are the other three. All up for sale right now. I maintain the 20backs are a lot harder.

Of the figures released in 1985, the 82-84 figures are probably the hardest to find. From what I've seen (and not seen), here's the breakdown for 82-84 figures on a cardback with the Triple Win offer.

1. Firefly
2. Spirit
3. Mutt and Junkyard
4. Ripcord
5. Baroness
6. Storm Shadow
7. Roadblock
8. Blowtorch
9. Gung Ho
10. Recondo

I can't recall ever seeing a Firefly with the Triple Win offer within the last 6 years (then again, I'm not always looking for Firefly). Spirit, Mutt, and Ripcord are actually more difficult to locate than you would think (especially since there seems to be an abundance of these figures on their 32 back cards). While Baroness, SS, and Roadblock show up infrequently, they still show up. Blowtorch, Gung Ho and Recondo follow. Everyone else from 82-84 not listed either appear frequently or are commonly found (again, relative to 34-back card with the Triple Win offer).

Also, if you notice, Cobra Soldier is still on that back, being an 82 figure on the 85 back. That figure was the longest production figure, even though you could say since it was the 82/83 version continued that it was still a series 2 figure. As to the 83s no idea myself.

Just bumping this up to see if any other information has come up about these since this thread was last posted in.

I am particularly interested since I have a Torpedo on an 85 offerless cardback and a Destro on a Triple Win.

Thanks!
