So I'm 30 years old, and I myself like to think that
I'm still pretty young, or at least young at heart...

Well, sometime last year, I was assigned as the assistant coach
of a little league basketball team, ages 9-12.
I'm busy watching the game pacing the sideline in front of the bench
sporting my Orlando Magic Penny Hardaway jersey, when one of the kids
goes "Coach Don! Coach Don!" I turn & ask wsup.
He goes "Who is Hard-way? Shouldn't that say McGrady?"
I was like "Whoa, you don't know who Penny Hardaway is?"
All 7 players on the bench go "WHO?? This guys name was PENNY?"
That was the moment that I never saw coming. That moment when I
was a teenager & the old timers would talk about how good basketball
was back in the day with the short shorts & basic fundamental bball,
which featured the likes of Oscar Robertson, Willis Reed, Bill Russell etc...
I have morphed into THAT old-timer without even knowing it. :(

So that was last year.
Earlier this week, I went to the local park to play some hoop.
There were some guys there and they started picking teams,
one of the captains points at me and says "I'll get the OG over there"
OG???? Seriously??? Is my age finally showing??? :(

It's all mental. Enjoy the wisdom of your years of experience and look forward to the benefits of age. I can't imagine going back 10 years. I knew so little then. I'm 32. We're never going to be physically 18 again, but exercise and good eating habits will keep you young for a long time (and good emotional health is important). I've started to get grey hairs in my beard and I actually like it. I think it looks cool. Of course it helps my attitude that I got carded trying to get in to see the new Rambo movie. :)

Dude, got ya beat by a year (I'm 31), lol! But seriously, I feel old sometimes, but I think that is from all the worries and anxieties that I have been dealing with here of late. :( I guess all I'm saying is don't feel bad, I feel your pain. ;)

That's the main reason I won't ever grow out my beard, because I have two patches on either side of my chin that are completely grey (been like that since I was 25:( ).

Don't worry about it, old age hits everybody in different ways.. hey, the older, the wiser! :)

i've had grey hairs sprouting all over the place on my head
for a while now. I usually am buzzed-cut but i've been
growing my hair out lately & NOW the silverish streaks are
becoming more evident... BUT that still can't be the reason
why those guys referred to me as OG, cuz I had a bandana on...

I don't feel old physically nor mentally,
but these comments by other people are making me I guess
emotionally feel old... :(

Old...It's a matter of mind, really.

I don't feel old (I don't think about it). If the body doesn't tell you, then you're not old ;)

I wish I was 30 agine.Im 34 with a 12 year old girl and a 3 year old girl...2 kids..So when the oldest has friend over and they make fun of the clothes in the 90s...That make me feel old.All i have to do is open my closet and im vintage...Im thier mind...Now thats old when kids looks at your clothes as vintage:p I have toys older then they are:) Plus I stay active gym, running ect....Keep my weight down and i still feel young. Its all in your mind I think..Now if you lay around and not do much, like watch tv all the time or on the pc all day I can see how that would take play in if I felt older...But I think if someone stays active that helps.....Plus keep yourself surrounded by toys;)

I felt old at 27 when i helped my (now)wife "proctor" a high school prom (she's a teacher...)

At the prom, girls today...they wear like NOTHING....and that is their prom dress.

I felt old and wrong.

As long as your active and healthy forget what other people think. I know plenty of my peers who are suffering from heart problems and diabetes all because they are not physically active and their diets are awful.

I don't feel old, but recently i switched meds and i woke up around 1:30AM after plenty of sleep the first thing I thought of was..
'i'm going to die at some point.. one day I won't be here'

It's not like I never realised it, but i'm now 27 and i still can't answer my careers advisors question..
"Richard, what do you want to do when you leave school?"

I didn't know 12 years ago.. and i don't know now.. what does this have to do with getting old? Well I got thinking.. in 3 years time i'll be hitting 30.
In approximately 13 years from now I will be 40.

It just made me realise how fragile life is.. and no matter how many toys i collect or sell.. I'm going to age whether I like it or not.. :(
