I recently bought a new house and one half of our house is unfinished (everything is there but the ceiling). I have never hung drop ceiling and was wondering if anyone had any advice to get me started. It is about 900 sq ft (about 4 rooms and 2 closets).

Also, how do you cut lighting and places for the furnace vents (they are all in the ceiling as well).

One of those laser levels would be a tremendous help. I helped a guy once so I'm no authority, but we laid out the track on the exterior wall first. Of course it must be level all the way around-this is where the level comes in mighty handy. Then we suspended wire from the rafters in the general location of where the cross sections would hang. As we hung the cross sections we tied them off with the suspended wire and leveled them. Getting the first cross section hung was a bear but after that it went smoother. Hope that helps
