I don't see much that is actually worth buying. The CLAW looks very cheap compared to the original. It really looks like a glider and not like a flying attack vehicle. Leatherhead is cool and we will hopefully get a classic color repaint (sans the freaking Duke arms )so that I don't have to buy another AWE Striker to get him. The Fang was never a favorite of mines and so I probably won't be buying that set.
The comic packs again are mostly skippable, I want Mainframe so i will buy that set but Scrap iron doesn't look too hot and Wild Bill is mostly a repaint. Beachhead doesn't look too hot either. Hard Master looks very cool but then I'm stuck with another useless Ninja. He is debateable whether I will buy him.
On another note, did anybody see how pronounced the scars are on Scrap iron? I don't recall seeing them on the original so much. Anyways that is just MHO.

CLAW pilot gets a rifle, but no dagger? And is he wearing a backpack? (and no, I don't mean the CLAW)

not really impressed. I was excited about Mainframe, until I saw that figure closer up. pretty substandard in my opinion

Not that I'm completely unimpressed or "disappointed" in their "Mainframe," but I just don't get Hasbro's reticence to use and re-use the Tiger Force Flint mold. Apparently they reserve that mold solely and exclusively for Flint figures? I don't know, but it just seems to me that they could have used that mold and created a dead-accurate Mainframe fig; likewise with their choice for their Lt. Falcon figure (they could have switched out the hands at the wrists for the Falcon figure).

I'll be the first to say something nice. Leatherneck is a tribute to the Mission Brazil pack from way back. Nice. It is clear that folks at Hasbro are drawing inspiration from the past.

The Hardmaster is now a figure. Virtually everything we've wanted to happen is happening. I'm impressed.

The CLAW will look better with decals and and there are sure to be decals in the box.

These will look better in person. I promise.

Quick question--how come the thread was moved to this forum??? It's discussing 25th Anniversary stuff. I haven't been able to figure out why topics get moved out of appropriate forums so often on this board. It makes things really confusing. Are the mods just bored? I mean, technically I guess, yeah, this topic could "fit" into this forum. But it was STARTED in the 2000-Current forum where we discuss the 25th line almost exclusively. Why MOVE a thread when it was already started in an appropriate place?

After reading Super Sports post I went back and looked. I think hes right it looks like Cobra Pilot is wearing a gray Viper pack. You can hust make out the squrarish shape on his back. I assume that the Viper and Pilot simply have there weapons reversed in the pics.
Now as to the good, Hasbrto has finally given me a coulor scheme for my Cobra Jetpack Troopers, as I really like the dark greay blue on the pads and webbing of the Pilot. (Also the Pilot stands are so going to my single card troopers)
Only one negative in my book, its Leatherneck. I like the colour scheme but the shoulder pad, skull and crossbones belt and croc shoes kill it for me.

I like the comic pack figures myself, even if I never cared for most of the actual characters. The amount of extras that they come with is pretty impressive (extra heads, sword racks, helmets and hats, etc...). And they're the best value for the price, that's for sure.

I didn't think that I'd get the Hard Master / Snake Eyes one, but I love that sword rack. The SE will make a good generic ninja too. The Hard Master's mask reminds me a lot of the original Snake Eyes mask.

Personally, I think this is the best wave of comic packs overall that we've seen yet. There's no "neon Duke" or "worthless Shipwreck" in the bunch.

I don't see what any of you are talkin' about.

These all are presentable and killer. Leatherneck, great throwback (though same Cutter/Gung-Ho tooling, Viper has honored paint schemes. pretty much reversed. They look great in the pack. If nobody like this new exclusive (meaning classic colors, trad. color. or new paint schemes) there's always collecting the vintage 3/ 3/4 loose. There's tons of it lying on ebay. Or get your degree in art design and file your resume to Hasbro.:eek: :rolleyes:

Why they up Wildbill's hat??

It's obviously suppose to match the color of his vest!!

But they messed up the color:mad:

Can someone explain to me why they changed Mainframe to Dataframe? Overall I think all the new additions are nice but I was never a big leatherneck fan, and why another AWE striker, there are plenty of vehicles to remake.

Hasbro just lost the rights to use the name is all. Still don't get why they didn't use a rank or put G.I. Joe in front and keep it Mainframe.

Granted most of them (all of them) are repaints, I'm looking forward to picking these up. Can't wait to get a couple FANGs and CLAWs.

Oh yeah. Believe me. I was ****ed too when heard about this matter.:o:mad:

This all has to do with character rights, and name liscensing and the fact Hasbro doesn' have the dignity/ and is too cheap to buy it from another toy company.
This is the same with Nemesis Enforcer.
Mainframe is in the Devil's Due comic and they did some dumb stuff in their too like killing him off, along with Rampart, and I believe Topside. :(:(

Best,

I'm used the name changes by now. Hasbro's also done it with Transformers. Now, since Hasbro is so keen to give figures new names why not make a Sgt. Slaughter figure that is not called Sgt. Slaughter?

I think The Hardmaster/Snake Eyes set looks cool. I am just wondering with the 25th figures jumping all over the place and with the movie obviously bringing all new figures what is the future of GI Joe?
The point is its cool GI Joe is reintroducing so many cool figures but when do we get entirley new figures?
Hardmaster really embodies what Hasbro could do, but doing characters over and over like WildBill gives the feeling of simpley greed.
Hey why not teenage version of Joes? I did some customs a while back Duke in his lettermans jacket, Scarlett in a schoolgirl uniform! Why not!
please help me understand why we need so many versions of characters?

Well granted I think Hawk in a wheelchair would be one of the coolest figures ever I really don't want a Snake Eyes with acne:rolleyes: ^^^

Over all I am pretty happy with these. There are some weird things going on with some of them but I guess they are still not making enough money yet to make all new figures with each run. You guys act pretty surprised about this even though they did it in the 80's till the cows came home.

Minus's
Any one notice no goggles on the viper but we still get the crapy hands, skull and crossbones on Leatherneck, Hardmaster is Snakeyes Ver 367 or something like that. Cutter Shipwreck body with a Gung Ho head:mad:. Deep Six looks cool but is a down right joke. If he was to go even a few fathoms down in that suit he would come back looking like a deflated balloon. Why couldn't they save that mold for Ace's long lost Co-Pilot.

Plus's
If you were to use the "landing gear" on a CLAW you would peel have the cloths/skin off you body. Thats just a common sense upgrade besides they never land like that in the comics/cartoon. Mission Brasil stuff is very cool maybe we will get the rest of the set. Mainframe was an 80's name for an outdated computing system that was normally the size of a bookshelf so no skin off my teeth. I mean look at his laptop. Hardmaster is very cool even though he is a repainted SE. I love mythos figures, it gives me hope for Dr. Venom/Billy. Wildbill with a helmet adds a lot of realism so I am stoked. If he did not wear something like that he would go deaf from the engine noise. Scrap Iron is super cool and a nice throw back not to mention the sculptor told me at the show that the scars on the face are very exstensive. One of his eyes is useless and white:eek: . Torpedo is cool period.

In regards to the Wave 6 Comic Packs, I wouldn't mind having a more classic styled Beachhead, and Mainframe is a pretty good rehash. I don't know much about the Hard Master, but the figure looks cool and I like the accessories. Also, I got to have a Scrap Iron figure. So, that Wave of Comic Packs is all right in my opinion. I'll pick them up when they come out if I can.

In regards to the Mainframe piece I agree w/ you entirely. Hasbro needs to up the grade to retool the neck and head attachment/proportion ratio of this figures head with his matching body. It looks ridiculous. Plus, here we go again, Hasbro still yet can't go more than a wave without releasing another Snake Eyes figure. Super Weak. Overrated, man. I mean, do we honestly 'need' another Snake Eyes figure?? I mean seriously. They really could be getting to possibly some subsets, driver two packs, or killer striking comic version appearance repaints. Hasbro needs to buy the rights to call the figure Mainframe as we all know him, or at Lt. Mainframe, or some type of ranking.
The last thing we need is Nemesis "Immortals", 'Double Blasts', and SSSgt Rock N Rolls?

In a positive note the Wild Bill repaint kills! The Beachead w/ sandmask looks remarkable!!
Plus, I'll always am looking forward to Larry Hama's writing. He can tell a story REAL well.

Best,

No way. I disagree with you entirely about the Beachhead. He will come with his mask, but that new mask looks sweet!! It makes sense... Check out the Major Bludd w/ his Sandmask. He looks absolutely ruthless!!
Good job on these two Figures, Hasbro Design Dept.
