Good idea, but people should be willing to help the less fortunate out regardless.

I bought all the 2 dollar VvsV packs that our local Family Dollar had (about 10) and put them in the TFT box. I always try to put either GI Joe or Transformers stuff in, that way I might start a new collector and increase the odds of them producing more stuff.

Well they should, but sometimes they don't.

lol Yeah, that's why I origginally started the contest. I wanted to buy help kids and make sure that G.I. Joe toys keep getting made.

Big Bad Toy Store confirmed that they'd donate two 50 dollar gift credits. That's a lot of free stuff, people.

I'm so stupid...

I bought 7 of the Family Dollar single packs to go along with a 25th Fang and Claw set, a Crimson Guard, and a Viper. I have procrastinated to the point that they are no longer accepting donations at stores. So I contacted the Marine coordinator and he said I could drop them off at the recruitment center.

I didn't have a chance to go yesterday but had the camera in the car. I switched cars with my wife today because I was worried about her driving in bad weather. Grabbed the toys, forgot the camera, Doh. Realized after I got there today that I also forgot my camera phone, DOH!

Long story short, I donated them without proof for the contest because the idea is about the toys you give for the less fortunate, not the toys you can get.

Happy Holidays All and remember, you snooze you loose.

You are right. Thank you for donating to Toys For Tots. That is the important part anyway.

BUT in the spirit of Christmas, I might let you slide in if you give me the name/phone number of the Marine cooridnator. I could call them and see if they remembered a dude bringing in a bunch of G.I. Joe toys. This is a lone exception people, don't expect me to call around the world if you want to try to win. hehe

Sent a PM with the Sargent's info. Even any effort on your part is above and beyond the call of duty. But that's what Joes do.

Thanks,

Wasn't going to post this, but what the heck, it involves everyone on here.

Long story short, I got lucky at the casino last week. Which was good because I had to pay for some dental work after an accident involving my dog (pit/dalmation mix) headbutting me in the mouth on accident and breaking three teeth. I saw a story about some families who were going through the usual "companies letting people go before Christmas as a reward for years of service" stuff.

It hit me hard since the same thing happened to us about 15 years ago. Luckily for us, my uncle is pretty well off and made sure my parents had enough to give us kids a great Christmas despite everything. We weren't supposed to know, but you know how it is as a kid, you hear things you aren't supposed to all the time. Hearing my dad talk to my uncle, I made a promise to myself I'd always remember what he did for us and do the same if I could.

Cut to this year, I heard the story on TV. I read everywhere how people were going without because of the "economic downturn" the country has been going through. I had some extra money that I considered found money since I won it at the casino, I wasn't going hungry, my niece and the rest of the family weren't going without presents or food for Christmas. But there were people out there going without. (I'll add a Joe reference here lol) Cobra COmmander helped out the people of Springfield, right? So what would CC do? I called the local Secret Santa service we have (They buy toys and food and deliver it to needy families based on their actual needs, they realy check the families out so they don't get scammed and 100% of your donation goes to the families) and made a cash donation of $200 to them in the name of the YoJoe forums and the Binnall of America forums (two of my favorite websites natch.)

SO everyone here has contributed to charity without knowing. That's my Christmas present to all of you guys, thanks for taking me in and thanks to everyone I've made deals with for being so patient with me with my pm's. Merry Christmas everyone!

Wow and that is awesome. You could have bought something really nice for your collection but did something selfless instead. Now if everybody gave like that in my town of Springfield, they would be richer than Mr. Burns...Richer in Love.

God Bless us everyone.

I enlisted the aid of my clinic and comic book evolution of puyallup wa. www.comic-evolution.com in donating toys. We dropped them off yesterday. Chuck at comic evolution matched my clinic and his customers 1 for 1 on gi joe donations. We had almost 100 gi joes including vehicles, DVD packs, Comic Packs, Single cards, Sigma 6 Sets and Vehicles, Walmart exclusive 60's remakes, and new 12 inch figures, even some toys-R-us 5 packs. Together we got over 200 toys and bikes adding up to almost $10,000.00 retail. This was fun, we were slowed down by snowmageddon 2008 up here in the NW and the Seattle toys for Tots appreciates all of you folks. I'm sure we will get an earlier start next year.

I hope that Tenric can post the pic of our donation here.
