Not sure if I am breaking any rules stated or unspoken but just wanted to get some input on the newer prototypes on ebay from hong kong. I have not seen many 25th proto but one seller has a few, a new movie vehicle, a resolute duke, and an out back. Never bought any before but was considering.

I know on other sights it is an unspoken rule not to mention a listing that is not yours so as not to draw attention in case some one was bidding or watching. If that applies here just let me know.

I think the thing you have to wonder about prototypes on ebay is where did they come from? Probably they're stolen. I wouldn't buy them because I wouldn't want to contribute to people stealing stuff.

There was actually a recent Shortpacked Strip about this very thing.

Can you let me know which seller you are referring about? There are quite a few already but maybe missed this one...

There is nothing illegal about buying on ebay what is sold to the public. For all we know these are rejects or tests that are recycled afterwards.

I'll be going to china for a few weeks and will be hunting down a few leads of my own. Sources rewarded!

I know absolutely nothing about the strip or its origin, but seriously, that character looks like a Joe collector I know! Not trying to start Armagedon or anything, just gave me a chuckle playing with my Toys. j/k :)

The strip was based off of some guy who spent a fortune buying stolen Transformers 2 toys. He then took pictures of them to prove he was "the first" but somebody hacked his photobucket account and posted them first instead.

The issue then became how immoral it was for someone to hack into anothers account to show people pictures of stolen merchandise which I guess people didn't have a problem with.

The whole thing was kind of funny so the artist translated it to a comic strip.

I have no official opinion on the matter. I'm just relating the story as I understand it. :)

And the guy in the strip looks like a few collectors I know too which made it even funnier for me on a personal level.

It does look like me a little, right down to the build...But I've never had a problem with guys busting up my Photobucket accounts that i KNOW of. I know one guy that did, a collector not only pulled pics from his account from an upcoming internet article that was all previously unseen vintage stuff, but then he bragged about it on a "private" forum area. Luckily, someone let the owner know, and showed him how to keep his photo accounts more secure.

I really hate that those accounts aren't secure, I never knew for YEARS anyone could view those pics until a friend emailed me about something he found in one of my accounts. He set me straight about it. I try not to take pics of stuff I don't want seen, and I have like 8 different photobucket accounts, some I don't even remember the codes to. I've deleted a lot of items from them for this very reason. If a friend wants to see some cool new art or proto I have, they gotta come to my house and look at it from behind glass.

What part of China will you be going to? I just got back from there, got tons of ko transformers, over 2000 pics in my album (http://www.actionfigurechecklist.com/Images/Album/index.php?v=list&i=0&p=Transformers_KnockOff_KO) :) and I picked up a few joes, but impossible to find complete figures, so I've missed out on a few waves while being over there,

Yeah, Shanghai and Beijing are pretty boring. I was in Guangdong province next to Hong Kong. ShenZhen, Dongguan and GuangZhou. and places where you can get so called "prototypes" :) and awesome TF ko's
