I'm not a Star Trek(nor Star Wars) fan but really these are the ugliest figures I have seen on store shelves in at least 12 years. I don't understand why these are getting such HUGE SPACE in the toy aisle. Way more than the 25th figures ever got at any store I've been to in the last 2 years. These figures are absolutely terrible especially when sitting next to GI Joe, Wolverine Origins, Marvel Universe, and even the newest Power Ranger line. Playmates should be ashamed. This stuff is going clog the pegs forever, even when they are discounted down to nothing.

I wanted to like the Phaser and other movie based Trek Tek (?) items but all that chrome is a let down. It looks like dollar store stuff.

These (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=DMC11169&mode=retail) look kinda cool though, probably cuz they're not from Playmates.

And what's the deal with with running a 3.75 line and a slightly larger scale simultaneously? The taller ones are only two dollars more than the 3.75ers. Ridiculous.

I think the problem is we have all seen these characters done to death, and it seems that movie figs for trek are always winding up in the clearance bins. Remeber Nemesis? or Generations?

I gotta disagree about the phazer it looks tempting to me, since I cant get a (cheap) Voyager rifle:(

I liked the old Playmates Star Trek figures from the 90's. I still have all the ones I collected back then. I've seen these new ones and they just don't look good to me. Like some people have said, I'd like to get the transporter and bridge playsets, but don't want to buy the figures to complete them.

I personally like the 6'' figures. If you collected the Playmates First Contact 6'', they go with them pretty well. I only have "old" Spock right now and he's standing right next to Worf.

As for "why" there's more of these than GI Joe....it's summer and the movie is right around the corner. Personally I hope the movie does really well and the kids get into ST. It's looking to be pretty good.

Then you haven't seen the Terminator Salvation toys. The Star Trek toys are quite nice compared to those. I feel like I'm stepping back in time whenever I see those Terminator toys.

Do they, like, not have the rights to make a Christian Bale-like face or something? Every John Connor figure I've seen has some kind of mask or goggles on.

I was really disappointed when I saw the 3 3/4" figs. I love the Classic Star Trek Playmates figs, but these are like 1989 ToyBiz Batman/DC Superheroes kind of suck.
