A couple weeks ago, I found a 7672 Star Wars Rogue Shadow Lego set locally at a thrift store for $2, missing probably 20 pieces and 2 out of the 3 minifigures.
I was able to replace most of the standard parts pretty quickly, but most of the special parts were gonna be tough.
So yesterday I went to LEGO.com Home (http://www.lego.com), scrolled down to the bottom and found the missing parts link here (http://us.service.lego.com/en-US/replacementparts/default.aspx) and put in the set number under "lost" parts.
I got a response this morning from them with a reference number and a total for all the parts *including* the 2 minifigures and their accessories for $8.73 shipped. Look up "Vader's Apprentice" and "Battle Damaged Vader" on eBay and you'll see that those two alone have been selling for that - EACH.
So if you have a slightly older set, even if it's licensed, like Indiana Jones or Star Wars, you have a pretty good shot at getting those parts directly - and pretty cheaply- from Lego.
Just a reminder - if you have a licensed set you want to complete, when you call to pay for the order, you'll need to have the instruction book handy, because they will ask you for the license number on the back cover. It's tiny, and I couldn't find it at first, but the representative on the phone told me exactly where to look.
Happy hunting!
