What was the first joe or cobra figure u first got and played with. Remember first ever!

06-18-2004, 07:31 AM
Wild Weasel...ah, memories.

06-18-2004, 07:35 AM
Flash! I just loved the articulation and that clear visor. Star Wars took a back seat when Joes came.

06-18-2004, 07:36 AM
'82 Zap....broke his thumb!!

06-18-2004, 07:47 AM
A Straight Armed Short Fuse...He was awesome!

06-18-2004, 07:49 AM
I forgot to add my first one and that was breaker I broke both his legs, left thumb I threw him in a tree never to be found again :( kids!

06-18-2004, 07:54 AM
My first figure was Snake-eyes. I don't remember who bought him for me, but none of the kids on my block had GI Joes yet; they all still played Star Wars. I remember they made me pretend he was a bad guy 'cause he was all in black

Later on, when I got more Joes, I used Snake-eyes like Cobra Commander, probably because I hadn't seen the cartoon or comic yet and didn't know who he was supposed to be. Man, weird thinking about this after all this time smile.gif

1982 Straight arm Grunt. Gotta love the good ol days....

06-18-2004, 09:18 AM
1982 swivel-arm Grunt (but as a Star Wars figure).

My first Joe play-battle (May 1986) combined Grunt with Sci-Fi and Low-Light in an Armadillo, against a single Cobra Viper. Alpine, Eel, and Zandar joined the following month.

06-18-2004, 09:27 AM
Got three the same day. Grunt, Breaker and Cobra Officer. Still one of my favorite days in memory! smile.gif

Wolverine with cover girl. I wil never forget that when my mom bought it for me and I was so excited. I still have both of them after all this time and I will never part with them even if someone offered 10 grand for it. Just the feeling you get when you hold it and remember all the fun times you had with them as a kid and the enjoyment you can't put a price on.

06-18-2004, 09:58 AM
86 viper and a ferett used him on th atv on snake mountian til i got more joes and sold the motu

06-18-2004, 10:00 AM
First one I played with was Short Fuse, my friend Ryan got him and showed it to me. But I can't really remember what the first one I actually got was but I'm pretty sure that it was Flash.

Agent Orange

My first Joe was the 1983 Stinger Driver.

06-18-2004, 10:27 AM
Wild Weasal as a gift. Made him Darth Vader's replacement since he was dead. Didn't collect until Lifeline though.

06-18-2004, 10:28 AM
'83 Viper Pilot and Viper, oh those were the days. Too bad the glider only lasted one throw.

06-18-2004, 10:35 AM
Psych-Out. Yeah he was goofy as all hell, but my only other choice at the store had been Crystal Ball and I just couldn't see having that much fun with a figure that just came with a shield. I still have that neon green ******* and his martian antenna.

Straight Arm Short-Fuze.

First one in my hand, first one in a tree, first one all over the place.

Now, my first ones to drive off on the bumper of my Dad's car were Snake Eyes v1 (swivel) and Storm Shadow v1. That was a very sad day.

06-18-2004, 11:55 AM
straight arm grunt, broke his thumb off about a week after i got him.

06-18-2004, 12:30 PM
Straight arm Cobra. I had never seen any Joes and opened him on my birthday in 82. I remember staring hard at the art on the back and imagining what the other figures must be like.

I still have him too. :D

06-18-2004, 02:29 PM
snowjob ... i still remembered picking him at the store ... it was sometime in nov 1984 ... i remember cuz it was cold and i was wondering why my younger bro would pick GungHo (cuz he was wearing barely anything) ... anyways, that was #2 for my bro ... his first fig was Firefly ;)

Grunt v1

06-18-2004, 05:31 PM
Well, my dad found a loose Ripcord somewhere and gave it to me. Shortly after my mom came out of Ames one day with Zarana and said "Look, it's a girl you can use with the Lone Ranger and Tonto." (The early '80s Legend of the Lone Ranger figures.) That same day we went across the street to Hills and I asked if I could have another G.I. Joe and picked Hawk. This was around 1986.

Straight Arm Snake Eyes. 1982.

06-18-2004, 06:41 PM
Got a straight arm Flash and a RAM cycle for Christmas in '83...
Flash...sadly...didn't make it too long...but i still have the RAM...

Still haven't replaced that Flash either...but it's tops on my list of things to do...

code red shockwave
06-18-2004, 06:56 PM
It was a 1992 Shockwave. I also had those cheap "dollar store" soldiers that couldn't move, and I loved it when I'd use his tank and shoot them down like targets. I had him for about five-six years and I lost him. I never got to find a true replacement for him until the year 2001. Thank god for yojoe or it would take me a lot longer to find Shockwave(or an army of them...heh heh).

06-18-2004, 08:23 PM
The first Joe I ever saw was a friend's 1982 Grunt and RAM cycle. I thought they were the best figure toys I'd ever seen. I found out He got it in the US (Before Canada got GI Joe) and I was going soon. I picked up Rock 'N Roll as my first and I still have him. I also got the FLAK. I think I picked him because he was in the artwork for the FLAK and he looked the most military to me with the ammo belts across his chest.

06-18-2004, 08:24 PM
Bazooka V1 first one I opened smile.gif

and still my fave by far

06-18-2004, 08:29 PM
I got three at once:

Snake Eyes
Cobra Officer

all straight arm...I can remember looking them all over on the shelf...I wish i could do that again!!!

06-18-2004, 09:07 PM
Shoot, after Grunt, I can vidily remember the three that followed him......Stalker, Snake Eyes, and the Cobra Soldier.

I still have the Snake Eyes and Cobra Soldier......I still want to get striaght arm Grunt and Stalker (I have swivel arms)

06-19-2004, 06:55 AM
Flash also!
straight arm, right after they came out- soooo much better than star wars!
my grandma bought it for me, i begged her!
i had read comic #1 and me and my friends were really getting into joe right off the bat

Me too! That was the first one I owned, but the first ones I played with were my friend's Flash & Snake-Eyes figures. So I got into Joe by word-of-mouth advertising I guess. smile.gif

When I got Short-Fuze, that was also the day my Grandfather first opened up to me and told me he was on an artillery (mortar) unit in WWII. That was the only time he ever talked about the war.

Made Short-Fuze very special to me. . .

06-19-2004, 12:16 PM
Well for me the first fig(s) I got were Wild Bill and/or Ace I beleive, hard to recall. I know I got Ace and the skystriker for christmas one year, need to find those old photos to make sure when.

Didn't start to getting figs to much later though. I recall getting a Zartan but no luck finding him or the vehicle he came with.

06-19-2004, 02:01 PM
Straight arm Snake eye broke both thums on the first day and an arm and leg in the first week. After that I took beter care of my joes.

06-20-2004, 05:01 AM

Breaker, Rock 'N Roll, & Clutch

06-21-2004, 05:08 AM
It was a v1 Flash. I do not know if it had straight or swivel arms.

The Soft Master
06-21-2004, 07:33 AM
I can't remember. It was either the light blue Cobra Commander (I remember playing with this figure when i was in elementry school, i kept him in my pencil case), Grunt straight arm, or flash straight arm.

i remember my first vehicle being the Dragonfly helicopter.

06-21-2004, 10:53 PM
I remember that my mom brought home a Techno-Viper ( I don't have it anymore though. Maybe I should get one on the card since I only ever buy old figures loose?
