#21 for me

(first issue I ever got and is what got me totally into the toys, comics, and cartoons) and not to mention that it was one of the coolest issues ever, who wouldn't love ninja action as a kid (not to be confused with ninja force, ouch!)

My favorite cover has always been from issue.#104 (http://www.yojoe.com/comics/joe/joe104.shtml). Where Snake-eyes has just jumped out of a plane and has yet to pull his chute. I just loved this cover, and after reading that issue, the parachute that came with Crazylegs found a new owner with the 3rd version Snake-eyes

All the covers Mike Golden did, he's THE best GI Joe cover artist evar!

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid64/p9bfd8bc74926244af995f02f6101fca7/fbfe0afe.jpg This is a back cover, but you get the idea...

He did 23,27,29 and the first two yearbooks.

Then Mike Zeck is my second fav.

I think it was the cover to yearbook 2. I had a poster of it; it featured Snake Eyes and Timber, Lady Jaye, Roadblock, Torpedo and Rip Cord.

I always loved Marvel #46, with Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow coming through the door. I thought that would have made a fantastic poster....

I have to go with Marvel Issue #1, I still remember my dad bringing that home with him after work, he handed it to me and I just freaked. I had no idea they were doing a GI Joe comic, he saw it at the store and thought I'd like it.

I have to agree with TJH on this one. #46 is the one that's always stood out for me. From the first time I got the issue as a boy until i got back into the comics about 2 months ago, the image of snake eyes and storm shadow standing side by side has always been in my memory. The best thing about that issue though is that when I went back to my parent's house in search of my old comics, that was the only one I could find. Somehow it survived my parent's numerous garage sales and even when they sold my entire figure collection (including a complete USS Flagg).

I agree with Xerofall, Mike Golden is undoubtably one of the most overlooked artist in the comics field, and my personal favorite. I would put him against ANY artist working today McFarlane, Lee, etc. and there is no comparison he is on a level far above them. Anyway to get back to the original question Any Mike G cover will do, but i will probably pick the back cover for yearbook #1. He also did #36, and several later ones featuring Destro that are unsigned.

Yeah, #46 for me, too. SS & SE looked like they could've taken on the whole Cobra army from the cover.

Another personal favorite of mine was I think #126, with Firefly's face on the front. It's cool how the artist merged some of Firefly's past on his face as well. I was never so excited about picking up a comic as I was for that one, as it was the long awaited return of my favorite bad guy.

I've only recently begun exploring the comics and already have several favorite covers, but Frontline #18 wins the prize for originality: http://www.yojoe.com/comics/frontline/frontline18.shtml

G.I.Joe #43. When I was a kid I always put this one face down on the floor when I slept because it scared the crap out of me. I always imagined it crawling across the floor to kill me while I slept.

Sepcial #1 and the first Yearbook have pretty sweet covers.

But, my faves have to be (both Marvel) #1 (though I STILL don't own one!!!!)and #155

Hehe, good story there! But if it scared you so bad as a kid, how'd it come to be your fave?

The cover to issue 66, it just steamed with ninja action and suspense.

Number 20 is a close second.

I'd have to go with Mike Golden as well. My favorites are 36 and 23. It's the coloring that made those great. does anyone know if Mike colored those himself ? I've seen a bunch of his stuff and there are not many done that way. He's also got some great stuff in "The 'Nam". anyone here ever into that? there was two or three issues in the first 10 with the similar coloring style.

I guess mine would have to be issue 27. Everytime I think of the old comics that cover pops into my head. I also really like the covers for the first 2 yearbooks too though. Issue 36 was always a fav too.

Yep Mike Golden colored most of his own stuff. Many of his mid 80's covers (Joe's # 23, 29, 36 Micronauts 59, New Voyages # 1,3,6, etc.), were done in a technique like cel animation. He would completely paint the image and then lay a clear transparency over them for the black line work. That's why many from this period look like animation cels, it is the process he used. Many of the full issues drawn by him , he colored as well (Marvel Fanfare 1,2,47, etc.). Mike Golden was the only reason I read "The Nam". I have hundreds of covers and several of his portfolios. He is the greatest in my book.

I echo a lot of others. 23....for one because it is cool....and for second, it was my first issue delivered to me in the mail via a Marvel subscription. I also liked 29 as well. As for the DD run, I like issue 6. DD offered that cover as wallpaper and I still have it on my laptop.

Way too hard to name one.

Issue 23. Cobra Commander caught. My first Joe comic.

Issue 21. Silent Interlude. Yes I love that one.

Issue 61. Very cool cover.

Issue 67. Lady J knocks Flynt on his butt.

Special Mission #1. Great battle scene.
