I read about them somewhere, who are what are they? The only thing I know about them or him is that he is up there in the Cobra Hierarchy.

There's some fan fiction ( http://www.joecustoms.com/liberty/cobra.html ) that describes the Iron Grenadiers as the "Royal Vanguard" of Cobra. (The word comes from the French avant-garde and means the troops moving at the head of the army.) The only reference to an individual named Vanguard is also in fan-fic ( http://www.joecustoms.com/projects/filename/filename.php ).

In real life, there was a "CoBrA Vanguard" art movement in post-WW2 Europe, formed when three groups merged together. The name comes from the three groups' hometowns, COpenhagen, BRussels, and Amsterdam.

Also noteworthy:
There was a Gobot named Vanguard. The Gobots movie featured Joe voice actors such as Michael Bell, B. J. Ward, Dick Gautier, and Arthur Burghardt, so there's a connection there.

Cobra and Van Guard are British car alarm companies.

Hmm, well the reason I ask is that I got this Cobra Organizational chart from another message board, and right up there in the rankings under Cobra Commander is Vanguard??

I was just wondering what this was based on, but I cant seem to find the thread anymore... :confused:

A lot of those names look made up, from fan fiction or someone's own joe-verse. There are a slew I don't recognize from either comics or the tv show.

EDIT: Yeah, scroll through his other pics, he made up his own unique alley viper, and repainted a rage and named it. Must be his own joe-verse.

Theirs also a Irish Nationalist group called Vanguard.

Vanguard was a far-right Northern Irish splinter group from the Ulster Unionist Party.
