Fred I was introduced in #29 and died in #32. He was replaced by Fred II (actually Wade Collins), who appeared frequently until he was featured in #42-43.

The Fred VII storyline actually starts in #53, in which CC and Destro attack the Pit and are buried inside. They escape in #55 and find their way to Fred VII in #58. This Fred "kills" Cobra Commander in #61 and takes his place in #64. He leads Cobra until the return of the original Commander in #98.

Snake Eyes' letter in #155 is directed at Wade Collins' son Sean, who is the subject of a fairly significant revelation in a forthcoming Devil's Due comic.
