Too bad they are hard to find and kinda pricey, but I was able to get this Cel for a low cost.

Does anyone know where or how people get the Cels from GI Joe?

Do they come from Japan where they were animated or what?

Anyway here's my simple Cel... a cool explosion.

The Sunbow GI Joe cels all seem to be coming from people who worked on the production and were kind enough to save some cels from being destroyed. The animation was done mainly in Japan, some in Korea, but I've only found 1 Joe cel at a Japanese cel dealer. There's really only a few US animation art galleries w/ GI Joe cels.

The DIC cels are a bit different. DIC had an animation art sales program for a while, and there were a lot of cels sold officially until they had problems w/ the copywrite holders and stopped selling any cels they didn't own the rights to.

Here's a cel from my collection.

Thanks Mainframe...

It saddens me to learn alot of them were destroyed. :(

You have a really nice one... I was gonna get one with Alpine and Bazooka from "Bazooka Saw a Sea Serpent" but I lost the info.

Do you know of any places that offer cels?

Art Toons (www.art-toons) and Van Eaton Galleries (www.vegalleries) are the two cel dealers who generally have GI Joe cels, I don't know how many they have left.

I really wonder how many GI Joe cels are out there. Over the years I've seen a lot. It'd be cool if someday the there could be a site for GI Joe cels like the Transformerscels.com. Those guys have done a great job keeping track of the Transformers cels in existance.

I do have a website w/ a few more of my Joe cels on it here (http://kett.rubberslug.com)
My sis has a website linked on Joeheadquarters.com

These guys have a bunch... http://www.vegalleries.com/other2.html#gij

It would take a little over $6000 to get them all. :D

Van Eaton doesn't have all their cels up on their webpage. It's always best to check with them. They're always at the San Diego comic con, that's a great con to find cels.

I haven't been to any GI Joe conventions recently. Are there dealers selling cels there?
