(insert me eating his own previous words here)

.......AND IT IS GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got the chance to demo the Joe CCG at the Origins Game Fair in Columbus this past weekend. It's a pretty tight system

NO dice are used (thankfully!)
The cards look great (especially the CG)

PICK THIS ONE UP all! smile.gif

Please elaborate, if you are allowed.

Is the big number on the top the cost?

Were the stars on the sides used for hit points?

How long would you guess the average game would take? 40 minutes? more? less?

Any chance at multi-player, or is 2-player the only way possible to play?

-The big number at the top was the character's strength.

-Stars on the side were used for one of the fighting phases (of which there are two; one-on-one and firefight)

-It looks like it is probably going to be a game that is VERY fast to play. I think an average game is going to last 15, maybe 20 mins.

-I THINK the demo-er mentioned something about multi-player, but I'm not 100% sure.

I DID get a sweet looking pin for demo-ing the game, too!

All in all, I like the game. Many thanks to the demo-er who showed me the game! (He stops by and reads the posts once in a while)

Was it this pin?

I was able to nab one off eBay awhile ago.

From the interview, they said that "There are not official multi-player rules but the game can easily be played with more than two people."

Glad to hear you enjoyed the game, I'm looking forward to it myself!

So which cards do you remember seeing?

Yep, that would be the one! As a matter of fact Jeff, the guy that demoe'd the game to me mentioned that he talks to you on a regular basis.

As for cards I saw, I saw the Viper, CC, Jinx, Mirage, Tele-Viper, Stormy, and of course the CG. The artwork looks really REALLY good. I think the guy mentioned Firefly too.

If Wizards of the Coast was smart, they'd have worked on getting a booth at the con, or even have a pre-release tournament there!

I'm hoping they do something special for Chicago's WW in Aug. It happens to be the same weekend as the release date.

Which means it'll be for sale at GenCon (which I plan on attending! smile.gif )

Sorry to keep pestering you with questions, but I am REALLY excited about this. As a Joe fan since '82 (2nd grade) and an avid TCG gamer and collector (mainly LotR and Redemption, though I have played dozens), this is the ideal game for me. As such, I am very interested in the mechanics of this game:

1) You said it is a fast game. Is there no such thing as hit points in the game?

2) Do cards have costs (like Magic and Lord of the Rings), or are all cards played free (like Redemption)?

3) Are counters used at all?

Thanks for answering!

In that order:

1. Not really.
2. You start off with 8 soldiers on the table (4 on the "frontline", 4 in "reserve"), and you use cards to "boost" the strength of the guys you have out there.
3. No. No counters, no dice (THANKFULLY)
