The first Larry Hama iteration of the Red Shadows.
holy cow.
What an entrance they make.
A stormy sea tale with the Joes out to rescue Dr Burkhart (again)
I enjoyed this issue and I have minuscule knowledge of the Red Shadows.
There was the usual GIJOE humor.
The return of Kalingaland.
The Black Major does something that I was really surprised to see happen.
Muton shows up.
The Red Shadow troops are all business.
The Joes are unprepared and caught off guard, at the end of the issue it looks like their back is against the wall.
Larry Hama said in an interview that he had not read any of the Red Shadow stories and that this was going to be his version of the characters. It should be interesting to hear what the differences are from our friends over across the pond.
I loved this issue....funny to see all the 'old school' back again....Burkhart, Kalingaland, and such.....I was not expecting the Red Shadows, Muton was used well and I loved the Flying Skull at the end....had to go and dig mine out to set up the scene (such a nerd)
curious to how it plays out and if they are going to be a recurring presence in this book
