\r\n Should we add new sub-teams to our YoJoe archives? There are many that could be considered a sub team not listed. That I would consider more of a sub team then the Desert Patrol Squad and the Anti Venom Task Force. Specially the COBRA Sky Patrol which only consist of two international figures. The Task Force and the desert squad consisted of a TRU exclusive 6 pack. The Anti venom task force doesn\'t have any media/vehicles surrounding it either unlike the Red Shadows and the Coils. \nI believe if those three are on the sub team archive that sub teams like the Red Shadows Action Force and the Coil\'s. They all have a lot more history behind them and media back up. The Red shadows have a convention box set with a few 4 figures 2 vehicles been in a few comics including the newest comic from idw from the continuation of the old series. Red shadows are thick in history with all the international figures made where the COBRA Sky Patrol is made up of two international figures that I never heard of before. same goes with action force. action force gets new figures it seems like almost every convention now and also rich in international history and comics. Coil has a few figures and vehicles now. and were in the comics all the time at one point. I am not saying to get rid of those three sub teams that are on the archives now, I am saying we should add the few more to make our sub team archives the best of the best!

\r\n I would use some sort of criteria for each sub-team, for instance:
    \nHas at least 5 figures
    \nWas featured in the comics/cartoon
    \n
    \nOr something like that.
    \n
\nFor teams not listed, I would like to see:
    \nAdventure Team
\nAction Force and/or International that were released in the US (i.e. the international club exclusives, ninja-ku, Glenda, etc.)
    \nEnvironment Themed
    \nMilitary Branch themed
    \n
\nSo really, at this point, maybe think of them less as \'Subteams\' but rather groupings of similarly themed figures.\r\n

\r\n I have been wondering this same thing for a long time! Why are these missing from the sub-team archives? I agree with you Kann, Why the heck is that cobra sky patrol made up of to international no names but then we have out the red shadow??? there is so much info and material out there in the USA that isn\'t even counting international but then the sky patrol COBRA is made up of ONLY international material (two figures). There is so much we can include to the red shadows on the sub teams.
    \n
\nAlso action force got a convention vehicle too on top of many many figures!\r\n

\r\n Those two Cobra Sky Patrol figures are sub teams of GI Joe/Cobra. GI Joe is printed on the card.
    \r\n
\r\nRed Shadows and Action Force are different organizations. Not affiliated with GI Joe or Cobra. No mention of either entity are on the packaging either. So they are not sub-teams of GI Joe or Cobra.\r\n

You can see right on the box for the red shadows the skull and crossbones and on the file card they have the red shadows right on the file cards. In the sub teams they have three non gi joe or cobras. Iron grenadiers Oktober Guard and lunartix empire. So they shouldn\'t be in the archives then either?\r\n

\r\nMy point about Red Shadows is that they aren\'t GI Joe...meaning the brand. Therefore have no place as being a sub-team of GI Joe.

\r\n steel brigade, Plague, anti venom, night watch, all are subteams but they were not a continuing theme. One shots. Steel Brigade started out as a troop builder and then got pushed into individuals.
\nwould the action Force Tiger Force characters be listed under Action Force or Tiger Force?
    \n
\nI think it is best to keep the international figures separate from the domestic as for the most part they are considered variants.
\n Remember Action Force itself is made up of several teams. Z Force, Q Force etc. It could be a nightmare to archive,
    \nLet BFTB specialize in that.
    \n
\nTreat any international figures that make it into the domestic line as one-offs.
    \n
\nWhere do you draw the line? what criteria or parameters do you use? When does a theme become a subteam? (Star Brigade)
\nall questions that would need to be answered.\r\n

\nall questions that would need to be answered.
    \r\n \r\n
    \r\n
    \r\n
Both for your first question that\'s what they did with Ninja force zartan. I can see where you are coming from all the different forces in the action force but maybe add a action force sub team that includes all the little spin offs that they had Q force Z force etc.\r\n

\r\n what may be more useful than sub divisions, is an internal search engine, type in "Red Shadows" and all of those figures are listed. Type in Tiger Force, Steel Brigade, 1986, etc etc etc.\r\n

haha that\'s a good one. Well by all your guys debate so far, it sounds like action force would be a hard group to classify under with all the spin offs etc. I still would love to see the Red Shadows get a category right under the subgroup Iron grenadiers. They got a fair share of US spot light and products. There wouldn\'t be any controversy as action force would have. I guess that a decision for big guys who run this bored. \r\n

\r\n Well, we\'ve actually had a couple of discussions about expanding the Sub-Team qualifications. One discussion we started(and have yet to finish) is B.A.T.s. You\'ve got the standard BAT, Sky BAT, Inferno BAT, Jungle BAT, Nano BAT, Overkill, and whatnot. A couple of us think they\'re all BATs, but a couple don\'t. But I might be able to compromise to a Sub-Team option.
    \n
\nI could see an argument for the Red Shadows and Action Force. But I agree with Average_Joe, only the ones with a Hasbro logo made for the North American market. So convention stuff and figures like that v10 Scarlett based on Glenda. Her card says "From the GI Joe International Collection" so you could find her and Convention and Subscription Service guys in that list. Then you could find the link to the original figure from the domestic homage.\r\n

I have no idea if this is possible with whatever software you use, but you almost need more classification fields for all the figures. Almost like tags. So people could do a query like "Female International figure after year 1985" or something like that.
    \n
\nThat way you don\'t have to pigeon-hole yourself into specific groups, so the Jungle BAT would be found under "Cobra", "Jungle" and "BAT" queries, Glenda would be found under "Pilot", "International", "Female", and "Action Force", and finally Arctic Destro would be found under "Arctic", "IG", and "Sucky figure" (well, maybe not the last one).\r\n

\r\n As much as the Coil might have had more impact on the brand in media, Desert Patrol/Anti-Venom/etc.. are more of a sub-team because they are packaged and designated that way.
    \n
\nFor the Coil, what gets classified as part of the Coil?
    \n
    \n
\nInternational needs to stay as international. Action Force is not a sub-team. Red Shadows is not a sub-team. Yes, the same applies to Iron Grenadiers and Oktober Guard but those were part of the North American releases, which the archive is covering. The international stuff is more of a "look, these are related" then an actual archive like the North American released stuff.\r\n

Well, we\'ve actually had a couple of discussions about expanding the Sub-Team qualifications.
Then you could find the link to the original figure from the domestic homage.

As much as the Coil might have had more impact on the brand in media, Desert Patrol/Anti-Venom/etc.. are more of a sub-team because they are packaged and designated that way.
The international stuff is more of a "look, these are related" then an actual archive like the North American released stuff.

    \r\n
    \r\n
BATS are not a subteam, they are equipment that keeps evolving. If anything they are a division like iron grenadiers since there are thousands of them.
\nI would keep international international and even go one step further and keep club stuff club stuff.\r\n

I\'m with you. I think a Jungle BAT is a BAT with different clothes on, and an Inferno BAT is a BAT that\'s been overclocked.
    \n
\nSeems like maybe we need to start looking at this like biology classifications, you know=Life-Domain-Kingdom-Phylum-Class-Order-Family-Genus-Species. Ok, perhaps not that many levels, but something along those lines. So there would be a place for sub-teams and divisions and even the other categories. Say, start at Kingdom=Good Guy/Bad Guy, Class=International/Cobra/IG, Family=Sub Team(Own symbol and commanding officer), Genus=Division, Species=Trooper.\r\n

\r\n I had a post about 2 or better years ago and had something about the sonic and super sonic should have a sub team. I can see where you all are coming form with then international stuff but I will never be convinced about the sonics not being a sub team.

\r\n To me a sub-team has to have it\'s own unique indentification/symbol/etc.. The Sonic Fighters, B.A.T.S., etc.. don\'t classify because there is no unifying symbol to make them a seperate team.
    \n
    \n
\nI can see adding tags like: desert, arctic, sea, air, sonic, B.A.T., viper, etc...\r\n

\r\n I would love to see sub team listings for the Crimson Guard (Cobra SMS, C.A.T., C.A.T. II, Operation Crimson Sabotage, etc.), the Sonic Fighters, Cobra-La, the Red Shadows (under the "other" category), the Coil (Overlord, Coil troopers, Zilant, Glider, & Ferret), & the Adventure Team. All of these teams have vehicles (with the exception of Cobra-La)\r\n

I think that is a great definition. Only I would then point you to this:
    \n
    \n
\nI got that from an Operation Manual that came with Major Bludd. But that opens up a bunch of divisions that probably really don\'t have the numbers to warrant a whole category.\r\n

\r\n Old post but but seeing if anyone has any more or different opinion on this since it has been posted years ago! I still feel that the Sonic and Super sonic are one sub team and should be on the sub team page here. It was stamped on their cards/boxes, they have vehicles and even on a few DiC episodes.\r\n

\r\n LOL, while reading the first page I thought this was a whole big conversation I missed. Then I saw my response and realized it was 5 years old.
    \n
\nAnyway, I was thinking the other day we ought to add the "Wolf Squad" as a sub-team. With figures like: Ace, Sightline, Outback, Falcon, Shooter, Hit & Run. Plus they have a vehicle in the Skystriker. So even if Hasbro doesn\'t continue with this team design there seems enough to put them together here.\r\n

The main reason I didn\'t include them was they lack the Wolf Squad logo. So we might could do one of those "(Not officially Night Force, but with a color scheme that complements earlier releases.)" kinda things. Same could be said about Flint.

\nWhere did you hear about the factory error? I don\'t recall them saying anything at the panel that year. Plus blue was what they showed us in the display case at Con so it seems they had plenty of time to fix any errors. I just want to have sources before we go saying these sort of things. \r\n

\r\n It was either in a podcast/interview with Mark Weber OR it was a personal conversation on the floor. Right now I cannot recall the exact place I heard the information.

Exclamation Should we add new sub-teams to the archives?

Should we add new sub-teams to our YoJoe archives? There are many that could be considered a sub team not listed. That I would consider more of a sub team then the Desert Patrol Squad and the Anti Venom Task Force. Specially the COBRA Sky Patrol which only consist of two international figures. The Task Force and the desert squad consisted of a TRU exclusive 6 pack. The Anti venom task force doesn't have any media/vehicles surrounding it either unlike the Red Shadows and the Coils. YOJOE.COM | G.I.Joe Action Figure Archive - Subteams - G.I.Joe YOJOE.COM | G.I.Joe Action Figure Archive - Subteams - G.I.Joe

I believe if those three are on the sub team archive that sub teams like the Red Shadows Action Force and the Coil's.

What is your guys opinion on this one!
      Thanks
Bring back at least one classic O-Rings exclusive figure to the gi joe international convention each year!
