It was a pretty cool layout. I wonder how many kids in 1983 figured all that out

I dunno, I gotta say most of these I knew long ago.

Is it no one read the instructions?
People were born after the toys were made?

Either way, this thread is good for people to know now.

Even so I have to admit, in the 90's after never owned a Mauler I got one with Surveillance port cannon and antenna on it. After I discovered what the real antennae looked like, I decided to keep it that way. Never got those damn smoke launchers though.

I've since sold my Mauler, but here is a little gem for you all: If you've got a broken Salvo TOW launcher, trim off the little triangle and you can mount it to the side antenna port.

I've got to admit, I knew about the 83 HQ, except the FLAK. That impressed me. Back in the day I used it for Cobra, and adding water, the file card spot made a nice Croc pit. Also, if you are short on space, you can put the helipad on top of the stockade.

A couple of other thoughts I had.

As for Low Lights gun, if you are in a prone position, as snipers tend to be, it may be easier to bring to bear in that weird way.

Bridgelayer: even though the instructions say do not remove the plastic between the arms, a lot of stress will be relieved and the arms won't break.

If no one know the Flight Pod mine can be stored on the seat.

APC: as a kid I didn't have the top gun, but an Armadillo turret worked great.
JUMP: when just walking around, you can put the arm clip around a nozzle for storage.
PAC/RAT missiles are great on the Stinger.
Terror Drome: if you do not have a Firebat, you can lock in 2 Flight Pods into the Firebat tailfin retaining clips.

As for the Stinger, I think it was supposed to be called the black widow. There is a spider icon on the sail panels, and the rockets say BW-X04.
And the VAMP II, has a scorpion icon. It was probably supposed to be the Stinger.

    That's a very plausible theory!
