    Haslab Gijoe

With the Haslab making the Jobba the Hut Sail Barge for Star Wars, I am hoping they might give us an chance to have a item never produced....The question is what would it be? Using the same math. $500 for 5,000 items or 2500000.

I cant see myself plucking down $500 for a repro USS Flagg. Unless it had 2 decks and a lot of features.

I had to look up Haslab to see what you were referring to. Releasing a large GI Joe playset by that method might be the only way to go at this point, unless there was another movie line. Even then, I don’t know. I’m up for some kind of GI Joe related playset. I ended up with hundreds of GI Joe figures during a span of a decade and I’d like something to go with them.

I might pay $500.00 for a Flagg repro. I don’t know about that unreleased version. I’d rather have a Terror Drome repro than the Silent Castle, although it would probably be cool. A retooled Headquarters Command Center might be nice. Originals weren’t all that expensive the last I checked on eBay, though. I think what’s turned me off from buying vintage playsets is not only the price, but finding ones with all of their parts in good condition, without yellowing, peeling stickers, and all of that.

The Silent Castle is a good idea. I have seen some nice customs of that.
Here is a link to an UNOFFICIAL survey to gauge interest in the program for the GIJOE side of things.
The options are just basic ideas and it would be up to Hasbro to decide just what Joefans seem to want most.
Keep in mind Haslab is mainly for iconic, trophy items grand in scale and scope.
    Things like, a silent castle.

If your shared unwillingness to pay $500 for a HasLab FLAGG is a reflection for the rest of the G.I Joe community, then there is ZERO chance any G.I. Joe product will be produced by Hasbro via HasLab.

If wallets aren't willing to be opened, then product won't be made.

The original FLAGG cost $1m in tooling (which no longer exists) and development back in 1985. Hasbro sold 100k FLAGGS during the 1985-86 production run at an average RRP of $100 each. So they grossed about $10m at retail.

Of that $10m and after you take out cost of tooling, production, shipping, marketing and retailer margin. Hasbro optimistically would have taken about 25-35% of the RRP. So about $25-35 per FLAGG or $2.5-3.5m in total. Which is pretty good for one item.

For Haslab to do the FLAGG I would say $500 would be below the minimum it could charge. A simple inflation calc of the $1m 1985 tooling cost alone is $2.3m in 2018 terms as a guide. Leaving Hasbro with less than $200k for everything else.

If there are less than 5000 Joe fans who are willing to spend $500 on a new HasLab Joe item, then its hard to expect them to produce any item of significance for the line.

I'm not picky; I have an incomplete flagg and I don't need more. However, If you take terrordrome, top it with a cobra mountain playset, then top that with an Eagle force mountain, You get a Silent castle of sorts. The bottom serves as a tank garage. The middle would be a revolver of a few Firebats. And the top level can be a control room.

I also wish they would just retool the ARAH mold line and sell it as a collector set like the commemorative MOTU set that was offered years ago.

I was just in my local Game Stop buying a Playstation card for My DC Universe Online Game and I saw they had a bunch of six inch Star Wars Figures as well as this new line of six inch Marvel figures based on the figures and package designs Toy Biz released in the 90s and I suddenly started thinking It would be really great if hasbro got G.I. Joe back in the stores in a six inch format releasing both old and new characters simultaneously.
