Larry Hama Hit 'N' Run Original Dossier

Since we have been on the subject of art and paperwork in this section lately I thought I would share a cool dossier with everyone. Several months ago Gotham City Art had several dossier auctions from the desk of Larry Hama on ebay. Although I won several of these one dossier in particular is my favorite because it is of my favorite G.I. Joe--Hit 'N' Run. Did you know that Hit 'N' Run was almost called "Night Raid?" I didn't either until I won this dossier so check it out:

Let me know what you think!

Cool piece Dan. I was fortunate enough to get the original dossier for Firefly and a copy with handwritten notations for Muskrat. The Firefly dossier is one of my favorite pieces in my Joe collection as it's an incredibly significant piece of Joe history. One thing tho, you might want to consider throwing a watermark across the image you have on your site just so someone doesn't copy it and start printing up repros or something.

I love stuff like this. I saw one similar this not too long ago for Major Bludd...but in the paper piece he was referred to as "Major Chill." Pretty nifty stuff. I don't suppose you remember if there was a Snake-Eyes one do you Dan?

I just went through the original list, before Gotham went to ebay with the sales, and there were no Snake Eyes dossiers present for either 82 or 85.

Good point, Shane--I'd better start doing that with my paperwork posts.

Yeah, that Hit 'N' Run dossier really rocks, Dan. Nice pick-up!

As with Shane, I too was fortunate enough to purchase some of these Hama dossiers. I've got them from Destro V1 through Star Brigade, Baroness, and most of the Iron Grenadier characters. I know a few more members here have some of these great dossiers, too. They are incredibly significant pieces of G.I.Joe history.

I'd also recommend throwing a watermark of some sort on the pic of the dossier. Shane and I have discussed this before, and we agree it's smart to try to prevent any possible reproduction of these types of significant paperwork items. We're both vintage Star Wars collectors and have seen how easily some people will make repros/fakes, and try to screw over others.

    Super-cool item, Dan.

I just did the same thing, Shane. Man...we're such geeks.

I don't think Snake Eyes was available, but I'm not 100% sure. Dossiers for 1982 were definitely available by auction BEFORE the list that was mailed out. These were auctioned along with artwork and info relating to Larry Hama's "Fury Force", the precursor to what would become G.I.Joe as we know it.

But, there were defintely '82 dossiers available,as this was when I picked-up the Baroness dossiers. And I know another member here has an '82 one.

Just a little bit more info!

I haven't posted pics of this anywhere yet and i figured this thread might best fit it. Anyways, here's what i did with my Firefly dossier:

Haven't done anything with the Muskrat yet and the Strato-Viper dossier (copy) takes a backseat to what it's framed with:

The other dossiers I managed to pick up from Gotham City Art are:

    1992 Ace

    1992 Big Bear

    1992 Bullet Proof

    1992 Downtown

    1992 Eels

    1992 Flak-Viper

    1992 General Flagg

    2002 CLAWS

2002 Skulker (Cobra Range Viper Commander); included at the bottom of this is a Bridge Copy for SGT Stalker

I was lucky enough to see the dossiers that were on ebay before GC Art actually sent out the email notices to people. I was outbid on a few of them but it serves me right for being greedy! I just have a hard time passing up a paperwork auction. I wish they would have had some earlier pieces but I'm sure those are already in other collectors' collections.

I may post some more later but I think I will practice watermarking photos a little more before I post. Incidentally, do you guys think the watermark I did for the dossier is enough?
