Dunno if it would make a difference, but couldn't someone whip a Rattler 4WD's doors, roof, and bars on a regular Stinger and get the same effect? Unless it's in a sealed bag, how could you tell?Originally Posted by Volleydan
And would it be possible for a forum Mod to change the "sad" face on this thread? Now that the book is out, we're all pretty happy about it!
I'll have to look, but if you watch the little clip on domestic VAMP shells on Chad Hucal's "Collectable Spectacle" on YouTube.com, I think that there is a texture difference between the two doors and roof of the retail and mail-away Rattler 4WD's... unsure though. I don't think I possessed the Stinger 4WD mail-away at the time of filming (or I woulda included it in the book).
I'll have to check.

P.S. I added the "frowny face" to this thread at its inception. I think it's charming.
When I ordered my mail away Stinger as a kid, it was all-black, but it definitely didn't come with a driver (or filecard).
Actually, I remember sending a letter to Hasbro (when I was about 11 or 12) asking why my mail order Serpentor had no cape and my mail order Hawk had no helmet. I got a nice letter back telling me something or other about how stock changes and blah blah blah I don't remember. I totally wish I had kept that I also wonder if they would still personally respond to a kid like that these days!

BTW--When I came across your post on a TF G1 website about three or four years ago, I thought that your board name was the greatest thing I've ever read. Now. Three years later. I feel the same.

I didn't think to check earlier, but I have now. The Rattler 4WD roof has rounded edges on the front tips over the rollbar. The original grey Stinger roof has points over the rollbar. The texture and molding appears identical otherwise. I don't know if the mail-away Stinger black roof is pointed like the original or rounded like the later Rattler revision. I could take a photo tomorrow, but I'd really need to see the black Stinger roof to compare.Originally Posted by Mark W. Bellomo
From Flophouse's documentary, I understand the VAMP roofs were different. Remarkable! I had to check mine; I always like the zippered "windows" on the VAMP Mk.II roof. Never realized the Tiger Sting (a new acquisition for me) doesn't have them (smaller texture, too).
I'm sorry if this was already talked about or mentioned in the book that I missed, but I was curious about the prices for pilots and drivers. I know it was already mentioned the whole price part of the book being used only as a 'guide', but what about the drivers and pilots still on their red blisters? In the book it just says N/A under the MOC portion, but I wouldn't consider them at all MLC.
So, where would they fall? Could they be considered MOC? They are mint, and on a 'card'.......
I'm still waiting for my copy and my giveaway copy. That's right I'm going to give a copy away! I'm just that crazy! Or actually , I had help.
