I have IKEA glass display cases. In some of them I have my Gentle Giant SW mini busts. I am able to make two rows of three busts on each shelf. I want to raise the second row up so those busts won't be so hidden by the front row. I was thinking of something like acrylic blocks that would be like 10 inches long, 5 inches wide, and 5 inches tall.
Where do I get something like that?
Or another alternative?
I have tried craft type stores like Michael's with no luck.
Those are very hard to find. I have been looking for them for years...well not looking real hard but always keeping an eye out. I have yet to see anyone selling them. A friend of mine went to the local hardware store and bought acrylic or plexy glass and had it cut into several different dimensions. Then he hot glued them together and made a bunch of stands...these worked out really well as they were made to fit his displays and were really not that expensive.
Check your yellow pages for prototyping companies in the area, too. (Other yellow pages options, industrial design, polymers...umm, rapid prototyping, model making, model manufacturing......)
A prototyping company might have some nice sized scrap that they'd sell ya for pennies, or even just give ya some stuff. They get their stuff in, but ya never know what they have in the scrap pile after it goes through milling.
