What is a Bronze Bomber?

I think of myself as sort of a GI Joe expert so I'm kind of embarassed to admit I don't know the story behind the Bronze Bombers. Can someone enlighten me? What are they? Where/when were they avalible?

I actually remember seeing these sets in TRU back in 97-98 when i was
also seeing a black & blue Jinx driving a jeep named after a cobra plane,
the cobra plane now a joe plane being piloted by ace & hawk renamed
thunderbolt, a conquest repaint & various 3-packs that i thought were
also gijoe knockoffs, most of which were collecting dust on shelves!!

If i only knew THEN what I know now, i woulda bought all of these
guys to resell nowadays... Where's Marty McFly when you need him!!!

Now I want those guys, wish I haddent missed out on them back in the day.....

I know some yojoe board members were able to get
absolute STEALS of these guys just a coupla weeks ago!!

I too remember passing on these in TRU. I can remember seeing about 2-3 of the 12 packs. I was annoyed that Hasbro sold some of their figure molds to one of their former competitors, which is why I think I passed it up (being a Joe-exclusive collector). Also, I can remember my little brother had some of the first series' BB, & they were garbage. I kind of figured these were equally so. Foolish, indeed.
