I remember very little of G.I. Joe before 1985. The first time I went to Toys R Us was in 1984 at age 7 and I remember the Star Wars aisle being huge , but I was there to buy He-Man After begging I walked away with Man E Faces and Battle Armor Skeletor that day.

A 1983/84 Era Joe aisle is not in my memory but I did come across a bunch of 1982 stuff in a small department store in the late 80's. I remember Beachhead being very difficult to find. I only found him one time during that period and I'm not sure where it was at but he was inside a glass counter. I wasn't able to get him that day and I still dont have one

    Great GI Joe pics guys.

Everyone looks so normal and life looks so normal, thats what I always come away with when I look at old birthday or christmas photos. Here we are, the end of the 2007, its such a shock, the time thats gone by. Really sick.

Great Joe pic of the toy aisle, wow!! I bet you, there's more moc's in that aisle, than there is now on ebay in 6 months or a year (or longer). The figures look like they're 5, 6, 7 deep? Time machine anyone??

lol, at first I thought you were wearing your mom's white pantyhose, then I realized it was the picture quality. Still, great shorts
I'll have to see if I can find this one pic from my childhood of my dad trying to put together the Mobile Command Center on Christmas Day. He looks like he's ready to toss it out the window.

That's how I got all of my stuff as a kid. I lived in a really rural area in NC as a kid and back in the mid-80s catalogs were the only way to get Joes. I'd love to see some of those again!
    There are some listed here:

and you can see full page scans. Not a whole lot in the way of Joes though. I feel I should warn you guys, the article does have some profanity and other non-board approved stuff, so beware.

I have some Montgomery Wards wish books from 1982-1985
They have a lot of joes in them and all of the other great toys from these years.
Memories are some of the greatest gifts anyone can receive.

That is one of the COOLEST things I have EVER seen on youtube or in these forums in a LONG time. I'm so glad someone posted that on youtube and then you Erick for posting a link here. I wonder how many other family videos like this exist out there sitting in an attic box somewhere. Someone had to open a Defiant that year...and someone had to have been filming with their boom-box sized video recorder.
