\r\n If im not mistaken they are limited to the molds that they know exist. They then have to test the mold to see if it is correct and no errors exist. Hasbro has said alot of molds are mislabled b/c the dont keep very good tabs on things in china. Its just like the 04 cobra troopers head, china has already lost it. Hasbro has wanted to use it since but the stupid people in china cant find it. Instead they found the original which they told hasbro they had lost.\r\n

\r\n Despite the location (and the runaround regarding the location) I find myself looking forward to this set. Or at least to seeing what the set will consist of. I am planning on going, and I\'m sure I will end up getting a set, but depending on how well it\'s done will determine how many sets and/or extras from the con.\r\n

\r\n Thinking about it, and I predict the Skull Squad will be Night Vulture repaints, or use that head sculpt. It just wouldn\'t make sense to use Range Viper heads since they were used in last year\'\'s Imperial Procession pack (which wasn\'t that popular).\r\n

\r\n For the mystery figure, I was thinking *maybe* Headman, but that just doesn\'t seem like a character (even if created in a kick-butt mold) that would really be surprise worthy.
\r\nIf it wasn\'t for the boards I would possibly not have heard of Cobra De Aco. Sounds cool, though.
\r\nHow would everyone feel about Wraith? He seems to be able to hold his own against both Stormy and Snakes in AE, but, does he have a S. American connection?; I don\'t think so, but I find some fun in guessing-' + '-hope the surprise isn\'t sprung early on though.....\r\n

You might be on to something. I guess the mystery fig wouldn\'t have to be somebody who was formerly produced in South America, it may just have a connection to it, or it\'s fc birthplace may be somewhere in South America.

\r\n I\'m interested in seeing what molds MC was able to dig up. Every year we see new COBRA troops people assumed were either lost or are never going to see again and MC gets a hold of them, polishes them up, and they look great.\r\n

\r\n With regards to the con sets, background and file cards, keep n mind that the Joe Club likes to insert small, fun bits when producing items, such as the 6 Dreadhead cousins having Smith & Wesson for last names.
\r\n
\r\nWe\'ve seen mini subs, Hiss tank, Dreadnok tricycle and AGP as free vehicles. I\'d really like to see a redo of the Stinger or a pair of Trouble Bubbles for this year.
\r\n
\r\nAs for the big vehicles, who knows? I like the surprise they have. Last year\'s Mech and the Moray blue decks were sweet!
\r\n
\r\nThey\'ve never released a listing of who the vendors will be. Best thing to do is ask your favorite ones if they\'re going. Or hope they chime in here. I know that Armageddon Toys and Brian\'s Toys usually make a big showing.

\r\n iirc, the earliest list you\'ll see of all vendors there will be the night you register. i think MC always has a full listing of vendors in the convention registration packages you pick up when you register (i could be wrong though)....

\r\nin ref to the hotel, i did some research and it seems like alot of the smaller hotels and b&b\'s in the french quarter are still closed. the only hotels i found that were open for reservations are the larger ones which are pretty pricey. i went ahead and reserved @ the sheraton.

\r\nfyi, they do charge you $27 a day to park your car there...so factor that in. iirc, the last time i went down to NO, most places close to where the con will be also charge for parking....sooo....

\r\n 1. You can register at the con on that Friday. I would avoid registering during the two week period before the con as that\'s when they get super busy.
\r\nIs it worth it? In my opinion, yes. You receive a discount on the package (which is usually the cost of membership) plus, you now will get the exclusive club only figure (clear Zartan and glow Heavy Water in the past). In addition, becoming a member grants you access to the exclusives the club sells throughout the year.
\r\n
\r\n2. Getting a second package is up to you. Some folks sell the complete sets and others sell them as individuals (especially if there\'s army builders). The other benefit of getting a second set is the surprise vehicle that comes with the package which you can only get for picking it up in person. The AGPs were fetching good change last year, especially in the auction.
\r\n
\r\n3. Lots of stuff. Everything from MIB figures and vehicles to loose ones to parts. Chances are you can find what you\'re after at a decent price if you look for it. There\'s also non figure stuff to be found (comics, coloring books, videos, etc.)
\r\n
\r\n4. Yes. There\'s usually 2 - 4 figures sets and 2 - 3 vehicles. Last year was the Skyhawks and blue Moray decks (both hot items) and the Mech (which I thought was uber-cool). In the past they\'ve done an attendee only p[olicy for purchasing extras of these items from their online store.

\r\n5. Yes, lots. Probably more-so then the newer figures. And the prices are pretty good. Keep in mind it\'s easier to haggle in person.
\r\n
\r\n6. The con has swayed more towards the 3 & 3/4" collector. The number of indivduals that perchased packages the past few years has been higher for 3 & 3/4" collectors than 12". Look at the number of sets now available for each. I think last year was at least 50/50 if not more like 60/40.

\r\n7. It\'s more for collectors roughly 23 on up. There are a good number of families as well. Some make it their yearly vacation.
\r\n
\r\n8. **** yes. Casino night is usually fun. Dinner is usually a good time as well. The seminars (including the GI Don\'t Know game show, Joe Club and Hasbro roundtables) are worth going to. Last year many of the seminars were standing room only.

\r\nThe con is what you make of it. You can shell out the $9 for a daily ticket (I did so my first con) or go all out. Attend as little as you want, and even skip dinner to find somewhere on your own.

Nope. All you will get is the figure set, the mystery attendance bonus vehicle, and usually a parachute figure. The other con exclusives are available separately for purchase, and typically consist of a 2 figure set, a 3 figure set, a smaller vehicle, and a larger vehicle. Of course, this may vary, but here\'s an approximate breakdown of years past.

\r\nNOTE: These are the prices from in the past, but since the package prices have all gone up, you might want to figure the same for the exclusives, and it will stay that way. For instance, it was stated at the 2004 con that the prices had gone up so much because it was being held at Disney, and that they would come back down. Imagine my surprise in 2005 when they did not come down at all!!

You get access to the sales floor on 3 days including Friday that the floor is not open to the public. You also get the dinner/casino night, all the seminars and the parachute drop assuming they have it. Really, it is not a bad deal for what you get if you attend. If you do not attend you still have to pay the same price which is the motivation to attend. The hotel, travel and bonus items is really where you can get it stuck to ya.\r\n

\r\n Shouldn\'t we start seeing pics of the con figures? Actually, shouldn\'t we already have been seeing them? I don\'t think it is unreasonable to at least see the color scheme on these before we shell out $220 for a set of figures. For a club that complains that they don\'t sell out of the con stuff, and want us to do more and buy more, we\'re cutting it pretty close to con time without seeing the sets yet. And the figure sets should not have been affected by the con location snafu\'s.
