I remember learning about this blood disorder when I was in biology. Apparently, when people first founded the town I live in, they came across a family of hillbillies in the mountains, and they all had very blue skin and where quite a shocking sight to the people that found them. This blood disorder was the reason for it, and apparently their skin was as blue as the sky. I always though that would be very interesting to see and asked the teacher for more info, but he thought I was crazy and wasnt very forthcoming with info on how to reproduce the disorder in a willing participant.
