I wasnt too pleased with the dark muddled art in the ww2 book but maybe if we see the joes in ohh a Stuart ( haunted tank anyone) or a sherman or p 51 or p-38 for example it just might reinvigorate the line but there are lots of these on the shelves already. maybe a time travel theme?
as far as video games go what kind? run and shoot? rp? online like wow? ( no thankss)
Strategy? who knows we can say what we want but i dont know about most of you but im out of touch with what makes kids drag their parents down the aisle and go Buy me that!
how about that whee thing ( Wii ). Some good possibilities arise
storm or se swinging swords, jayes spears, destros wrist rockets?
food for thought.

They tried that, didn't work out so wellOriginally Posted by Cobraghostship
For the longest time I thought a cartoon would do it but after thinking I think hasbro is going down the wrong path. I would have them get into the video game market because hopefully then they can pull some kids in the interest of gijoe. If you have 100 kids and 90% of them play video games would you go to where the other 10% is or would you go where 90% is. I think if you would have a few video games gijoe based then that could spark some interest. The only thing is gijoe never once did you ever see a person get shot in a cartoon so bringing violence to the gijoe name may not sit very well with hasbro also.
I just started my ebay store, take a look

I was using searchforjoes for a while but found my old name.I am looking for moc figures and weapons, send me your lists!!!
A Gi Joe game based on Command n Conquer would sell like 8 zillion copies.
An emphasis on realism would go a long way. In the 60s, a GI Joe could be an imaginary link to a relative who was serving in Vietnam. In the early 80's, a GI Joe was a quality war toy in a cold war era when war toys were everywhere. There was always a fantastic element for the 80s toys because they weren't 100% realistic, but they were still well grounded in that many of the weapons and specialties existed in the armed forces to some degree. The comic and bio work of Larry Hama, a vietnam vet with a talent for character-driven storytelling, and some effective cross-marketing helped seal the deal.
Over the years, the realism became more and more diluted. The Sigma6 toys are a sci-fi line in my opinion, they don't compete is the same space where the brand was established and their mechs and super-human body types are entirely fantastic. The DTC stuff is better about clinging to roots of the brand, but even it has room for improvement. The humvee was great, there should be more toys that allow an imagined link to relatves overseas and they should be marketed more agressively than the ninja/sci-fi/mech war crap that the brand is popularly associated with now.
I agree, I think a well done video game would do a lot to help out Gi Joe (it would actually have to be a good game; not crap like so many comic / toy / movie tie in games are - but if they made a decent Gi Joe game I think that would get kids attention)Originally Posted by dockingbay97

That idea is far too good to actually happen.Originally Posted by Cobraghostship
I think they hurt the brand after 88/89 by going to neon colors and unrealistic weapons and figures.
The GI Joe brand got diluted, and it doesn't have the strength and consistency of others.
For example, when you think of Star Wars...what comes to mind? Luke Skywalker, the Jedi's, Obi Wan, Yoda. Besides some of the prequel stuff, it's a very powerful brand.
Indiana Jones. You know what instantly comes to mind. The hat, the leather jacket, a mine car chase somewhere.
Or Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings.
But GI Joe, its gone big, small, realistic, bright orange, fantasy/sci fi.
It's got to be more consistent. A video game and movie would be great.
