    ******************SPOILER************************* ************

SORRY - SPOILER WARNING - MAKE SURE YOU ARE CURRENT ON THE DDP AMERICA'S ELITE UP THROUGH ISSUE 24 (the end of Sins of the mother)...

    ************************************************** ***********

    Ok -
So I love Devil's Due for bringing me back into the GI Joe flock. It was their early comics that reminded me how much fun GI Joe really is.

I just finished reading the last Sins of the Mother.

I must say, I am frightfully disappointed. Every time we turn around they inform us that Cobra Commander knows more and more about the joe team. At first, (through the declassified series) he knew all about Snake Eyes (and now calls him BROTHER??? how many brothers does one mute ninja need?). Then we find out that he knows the families (both immediate and distant) of every joe on the team?

Correct me if I am wrong on any of my logic here -

1 - All but a few core members are on reserve status. Meaning some sort of civilian life (except for a few who stayed active military). So he knows their names, their families, their addresses, SSN, etc.

2 - He knows the family members of the core team as well.

3 - He is a sociopath with severe narcissitic personality disorder with psychotic features including paranoia.

    - so my question is this. If he is as evil as they wish to portray him - why not just execute the whole team while they are in reserve status? why not execute the families of the entire team to draw the core members out into vulnerable positions.

Sure he'd risk creating a few more Flint's with vendettas. But he'd also wipe out what 90% of the team that way?

They had better come up with a good reason why he doesn't use the information he has. Because as it stands - that is a HUGE GLARING hole in the GI Joe plotline as far as DD is concerned.

    Exactly!

I post on DDP's board often when I can and I have definitely noticed a huge contradiction. It's actually the editor's fault because he screwed up big time and should be fired off the book.

I noticed that in the Hunt for Cobra Commander, Spirit was looking for him and gets captured. CC call him by his real name and threatens his family. Mike O wrote that issue himself.

Now Mike Powers comes up with the stupidest excuse for CC being in the White House and that is to obtain info on all the Joe dossiers. Here's the problem:

WHY would CC go through all that trouble to infiltrate the White House when he already knows who the team members are? Is'nt this the job for Zartan and other Cobra intelligence agents? Especially the CGs!

Was I to believe, that for 25 years of GIJoe history, it took CC 25 years just to get that information? Would CC be this stupid to waste his time and money to infiltrate as Chief of Staff..to which I want to add that it is ILLEGAL for CoS to involve themselves in military affairs by giving orders and do not have clearance for military information.

All the GIJoe information is classified and stored in the Pentagon/NSA and other secret military agencies, but not the White House. Do you see where I'm going with this? The White House is the executive branch, not military. This proves that Joe Casey and Mike O'Sullivan did NOT do their research back then.

This proves to me that currently Mark Powers and Mike O do NOT have a clue what they're doing nor what they're talking about. Mark Powers claimed that this storyline was to make the Baroness a huge threat and to be taken seriously.

Since when in the conclusion of the story make her a major threat? She was'nt restablished as a threat and she cried and begged CC to have her child back. Mark Powers FAILED in his job. What he did was insulting to my intelligence, as a 35 year old GIJoe fan.

If he wanted the Baroness to be such a threat, all she had to do was shoot Blackout (or someone prominent) in the head and reiterate her position. In the end, she has'nt changed a bit let alone, becoming a mother.
If Powers wanted us to think CC is the most powerful man in the world, he's deluding himself. He's forgetting the fact that the Red Shadows are the more dangerous due to the fact they got the 'Wraith' suit technology returned and they already KNEW where CC was hiding at the whole time.
If this was the case, they would've smoked him out a long time ago in the White House or in the Honduras which is evident that CC is not sneaky enough to do a good job covering his tracks.

As for Snake Eyes fighting CC in the control room...that was poorly choreographed. If he was such a professional commando, he would've tackled CC, knocked the gun out of his hand, and grabbed his hood off to reveal his face....and that would've been SHOCKING enough right there and put a gun to CC's face, causing a stalemate.

Don't blame the characters. Blame the writer and editor. They both EFFED up big time. WWIII...I'll bet you it'll be about the struggle over MARS and regain it to Destro's control. And Baroness has an edge....two words: MAJOR. BLUDD.

He'll be singing like a songbird revealing where other Cobra agents are hiding out at. It's obvious where this is going and that's how GIJoe will scoop them all up to prevent Vipers and other members from threatening their families.

Watch...the first half will be interesting..but when it comes to the end, DDP will drop the ball.

Give it some time. Didn't CC just recently come across the info about the Joe's real names, families, etc? Maybe something really evil in the works.

Personally, I'm enjoying the book more now than I ever have since DD took over. There were times in their first run that I had to drop the title. Now I can't wait for it to come every month.

Apparently, the storyline shows CC claiming the reason for infiltrating the White House was to get info on the Joes' dossier info and everything about them.
The major problem is that the writer and editor contradicted themselves. CC already KNEW who Spirit was in 'Hunt for CC' and his family when he captured him. It proves that there was no reason for him to go into the WH if he already knows about GIJoe. He's been fighting them for years that to suggest he's finally got info on them is ludicrous. He should've known everything about his enemy in the early years of the conflict. After all, in America's Elite, it is assumed that the team is only a small handful of specialists on active duty.

After all, in this day of internet hackers and web attacks which is common to the Pentagon and other military sites, why would CC bother to waste an entire 12 months breaking into the White House when in the digital age, a professional hacker can get the information. Why not use Zartan (if he had'nt walked away) or another Cobra intelligence agent such as a Siegie? Makes much more sense than having CC running around in the WH when he should be behind the scenes focusing on his scheming and plotting and rebuilding Cobra, on the move away from the Red Shadows whom already knew of his whereabouts.

Terrorist internet attacks do exist in real life. And second, you cannot get classified military info in the White House without clearance, definitely not as Chief of Staff which is not part of their job description. DDP screwed up big time on that one.

CC could've been Secretary of Defense in disguise..since the Secretary is the 'big shot' in the Pentagon and other military/espionage affairs. The Pentagon is where a lot of classified material is archived and stored at, NOT the White House.
And having the Phoenix Guard replace GIJoe by order to attack an American installation is blatantly juvenile and unprofessional.

No President in his right mind would EVER make such an order unless it's an issue of national security.

Are the Red Shadows going to be prominent in World War 3 or are we going to have to wait a few more months before they fully resurface?

    Most likely..

    Ironblood,

It would not surprise me if the Shadows will show up. After all, the Baroness gave Vaughn the Wraith suit back for them to mass produce and back engineer again. It was Charles Halifax that stole the suit from them which there is apparently a Chinese branch of the Red Shadows involved.

Vaughn gave the Baroness the co-ordinates where CC was hiding out at which proves to me that the Shadows were still able to find him while GIJoe could'nt. And they tried to kill him and would've been able to easily anytime they wanted to. It is no doubt to me that CC did a poor job covering his tracks the whole time and should've stayed behind the scenes instead of shooting his mouth off in the White House.

So many things DDP screwed up on.

It is funny, I will bust DDP for the main story arcs they try to run. But I also can rarely wait to get my hands on the next issue. Just to see the joes in action is enough to keep me comig back regardless of the holes in the plots.

I don't know about others here - but I think that the Special Missions are fantastic.

They don't get involved in the "whys" and "hows" but just set up the small team stuff that GI Joe was made for. I don't care what Colton, Hawk, the Jugglers are up to. I want to see GI Joe throwing down with cobra operatives over weather controlling satalites and magic crystals. Call me old fashioned.

I think the simplicity of the Special Missions brings strength to their stories. the convoluded, hole filled main story arc gets tiring and hard to follow. There is more time trying to explain what is going on, than time spent doing anything.

Just my thoughts, but then I'm not the one running the show - so i don't get a vote.

I know what you mean but The Red Shadows have always been 2 steps ahead of Cobra and the Joes I am curious as to how they manage this is there another cabal of politicians/generals helping out Vaughn and his group?

I think the Red Shadows have far more connections that Cobra has, despite the Siegies' capacity for infiltration. The Red Shadows are an international group while Cobra is'nt. I've noticed that a lot of Cobra agents are now recruited American soldiers from Blackouts' efforts and for this kind of treason is the penalty of death, so GIJoe legitimately has the right to 'shoot to kill', unless he's to be brought to trial alive.

And second, when it comes to managing to get around, I'm sure the Red Shadows have help from other countries. Their 'black budget' must be much higher than Cobra or Destro for some reason.

Do you remember the Russian storyline which kidnapped Flint and the Baroness? I'm pretty sure that the Red Shadows were behind the Russian mafia scheme because Flint was their intended target and not Lady J, later on.

To have the Red Shadows infiltrate the Pentagon, manipulate GIJoe and Cobra, and take people out without warning with discipline not to shoot their mouths off is more impressive and professional than Cobra Commander's ridiculous White House plot.
