I don't recall an offer that had Grand Slam in it. Which one was it, the Original Team offer, or another one?

No, it wasn't the original team offer and I'm glad you brought that up. Here is yojoe's insert section:

And here is the original team offer:

    http://yojoe.com/archive/mailin/original.shtml

I have every insert on this page except the 2006 adventure team insert and the 1985 STARS Transformers insert and I made a mail-in master list that breaks down every figure and vehicle that was offered as well as what insert(s) each was offered from. I can tell you NONE of the inserts on this page offers Grand Slam.

Another point--I also have a lot of vintage catalogs including including a complete Sears Wish Book run from 1982-92, Wards X-Mas 1982-85 (last year), and JCPenney X-Mas from 1982-96 (excluding 84, 85, and 88) and after checking them I can't find a single one that offers Grand Slam. There were several sets of teams offered but not one includes a Grand Slam. Can someone shed some light on when the redback Grand Slam was offered? I for one would love to know!

    Ooh...that brings back bad memories!

I remember getting that pamphlet when I ordered (a HISS, I think) and then ordering Major Bludd and four COBRA Officers that I NEVER GOT.

Wasn't there a huge Hasbro direct sale in Canada in the early 90's? Maybe it wasn't Canada but I know there was a huge sale. ANyway I believe some of the figures up for grabs were Hawk v1, Clutch v1, and Grand Slam v1. I think that's why you see those three figures pop up fairly regularly on ebay MIP.

Even if that wasn't the sale, I do know they're not Sear's or penny's exclusives. They came from hasbro direct. I believe Dryhawk??? aka Drew was the one who I heard that from years ago.

That sale was a Canadian exclusive and neither Hawk, Clutch nor Grand Slam were offered. Here are scans of that premium booklet and try not to cry at the prices most of us missed out on:

Inside (make sure you zoom in so you can read it):

    1/2 backside:

    Other 1/2 of backside:

So the question remains--where in the world were the version 1 Clutch, Hawk, and Grand Slam redbacks offered?

Yes, Hasbro Canada completely sold out of their Joe product. If you ordered figures that were sold out, they replaced them with other figures that were still available. But, in the end, everything was sold. I think I still have a letter from them dated 1999 that says such, too.

(I'll look for that for you, Dan. )

  12. #30
Yeah, you know I want to see that letter Mike!
