    OK...i'm torn.

I loved the MASK toys and I still make an effort to try to collect some of it from time to time. From that standpoint I think it's neat that they're doing this.

On the other hand, it sucks that they're using a precious slot for what little remains of this line doing a crossover figure instead of Blowtorch, Ripcord, Recondo, Dusty, Airtight, or any number of popular Joe characters. It's bad enough that they give us repeated kitbashes and repaints, not to mention the "original" figures, but now to go to crossovers too? I don't like it.

If you would have told me a year ago that the 25th Joe line would end up being something like 125 figures, I would have thought that it was the best news ever because that would have meant that I would see all of my favorite characters reimagined. Now, we're looking at 125 characters all right, but it's ending up more like about 40 versions of SE, SS, Duke, and CC and almost 20 more versions of a standard Cobra trooper and waaaay too few unique characters.
MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.....

I loved0 MASK as a kid and it IS kind of interesting, but now there's one less slot in the line for one of our original favorites!

He probably would have made a much better show exclusive.

I'm anxious to see what he'll look like, though... He should at least come with the mask!

Is there a set number of figures or something? I think the way these things seem to sell, that the Matt Tracker figure is just a cool expansion of the joeverse. As much as I like tiger force, I think MASK could have been a great gi joe subset. I just wish it could have happened back in the 80's. I'm looking forward to this crossover, and I hope Hasbro has more cards up their sleeves.

    Wait a minute folks...

There's no precious slot or any such. Once the "25th Anniversary" line finishes, every character from now until the next major action figure technology breakthrough are going to be designed like this. The only differences will be what sub-logo goes in the upper right corner. I guess they could decide to change some packaging for other lines that use the same figure technology, but okay to that.

The point is, I wouldn't worry about any figures getting skipped. If Matt Tracker is a success, then we could be seeing a spin-off line where he respectfully leaves GI Joe to start his MASK team. I doubt they would make MASK a sub-group of GI Joe.

Maybe I misunderstand about the current line....

I thought that Hasbro said that they were shelving the current line in favor of the movie figures, and they haven't officially said if they were going to continue with the "25th" line after the movie.

Have they said that this line is going to go on? Because after seeing the designs for the movie characters, I have NO interest in collecting those...

Ditto what Stinny said....it's been my impression that the 25th line as we know it will be discontinued early next year in favor of movie style figures (which I have no interest in collecting).

I think I read somewhere where Hasbro has confirmed that wave 9 would be the last wave of 25th Joes....can someone help me out with this?

IIRC Wave 7 is the LAST of the 25th line aside from Bludd. Then we will continue to see this style of figures released in waves 8, 9, and on into the movie series which Hasbro stated will included non-movie old time favorites.

The sky isn't falling. There is no end yet. We can still get great figures of past ARAH characters.

They have also said that no matter what lines they produce, the 25A line has set a new standard in figure production, and that the successive lines will follow in their wake. That includes the movie line and any other 1/18 scale action figures (except those that are not licensed through Lucas).

Aren't there more Transformers than just the TF Movie line out there now?

This is great. M.A.S.K. seemed a hybrid of G.I.Joe and Transformers, sure the figures and vehicles had less articulation, but it was like the best of both worlds. Also, I remember the enemies looking a lot like Dreadnoks. That never hurts. Incorporating mask seems to make more sense, than, let's say using some Street Fighter characters. As long as the crossover do not get ridiculous, I'm happy. No Care Bears posing as Bongo as something like that.
