Becuase it's not the same image, just another interpretation. I've seen several different versions by different artists all on legit licesened products. My favorite being the same image with Cobras on it with a CAT>

thought it would be interesting to see how people felt about the changes, I think the one that sticks out the most in my mind as a variation would be GI Jackrabbit

Jackrabbits wasn't a variation of it, so much as "parody" and is completely lame. I just sold the comic and it probably isn't worth the 99 cents I got for it on ebay ;-)
