Okay, Okay... Im glad we have alot to talk about now with the issue out. Thanks for all the comments, but I also appreciate the criticisms. It helps me become a better artist and get you guys a better story.

I want to just address a few things outright, then if someone has a specific question, I will answer as best I can.

This is legit, its from the man himself RQ Atkins and if you have read numbah one it answers a lot

I love that Scarlett has a command role, but she wont just be behind a desk the whole time. We see her kick serious butt soon.

I doubt there will be many, if any more at all, sex changes for characters. Sorry if it bugs you, but like many have said, I dont mind it because Dial tone was never the core group. The change wasnt meant to invalidate the character, but you have to admit this also adds more females to the mix. And Hasbro isnt allowing new characters to be created for now. (atleast not without a seriously, seriously good reason)

The Pit is huge...I know. I will post the line art in my sketch blog and do a quick map to show my reasoning for what I did. But put simply, this is a global organization. I dont see them operating in a single facility, whether is 1 or even 20 levels deep. When soldiers join GI JOE its a commitment. A serious commitment. They live in the Pit, eat, sleep, train, get sick, do lab work, store vehicles, weapons, and need a serious command center to organize. Last I counted there were over 200 Joes, and they were just the specialists. I figured, now we have a full garage for the motorpool, a complete training facility, a hospital, a command center, etc.

I admit....its huge and realistically may never be fully explored. But what does such a huge structure tell you about the organization that you may not have known otherwise? the scope of the operation, the funding available, the degree of secrecy it would take but the government is willing to maintain, and all kinds of practical solutions to previously glossed over problems.

The "mystery" assasin is not Wraith. The assassin dissolved, we'll find out why, I promise.

The action really builds in this series, but I like how Chuck is showing us character interraction while giving us pieces of a larger puzzle before we have a huge battle.

Also, Im glad we have Dusty, Airtight, and Frostbite shown working outside their speciality. Is Dusty going to sit around until they have a desert mission. Is Frostbite worthless unless its cold? For the most part we introduce character and have a good reason for them being there, but I like that Chuck has established that these guys have lives and skills outside their codename.

Over all Im very happy with how it came out, and I can guarantee if you liked this issue, it just gets better with each installment.

I picked up the wrap around cover & the sketch cover, but haven't had a chance to read it yet

I picked up A, B, C, and the A virgin cover... as well as the exclusive from Graham Crackers.

I was sorely dissapointed. Here is my review as it was posted on ArashikageClan.com

    THE REVIEW

Well, the way this title was done and redone in 9 different covers, which such great talent on every single one... you would think there's no way this book couldn't rock. But, as I am sure you were told as a youngster... never judge a book by it's cover.

As the story unfolds, we are learning about a new continuity of the Joe world, so some small subtle differences are expected. We are slapped in the face with a huge one in the very first few pages of the book when we find out that Dial-Tone has been changed into a female character. We only get two female characters introduced to us in the first issue, Scarlett and Dial-Tone. No Lady Jaye, Cover Girl, Firewall, Jinx, G.I. Jane, "Shooter", or the female Doc.

No real story has developed yet in the first 22 pages, but we are on the trail of "discovering" what or who "Cobra" is for the very first time (in this continuity). Duke is being picked out to go with Scarlett on this mission.

Scarlett, is apparently one of the higher ranking Joe's, and part of the "Think Tank". She only answered to a character she referred to as "General" once, and the rest of the book, seemed like the superior officer. She calls Duke into the think tank, via Dial-Tone. Then begins an obvious "what's between those two" game with Scarlett and Duke.

From the impression I am getting, the two were once lovers who's relationship ended due to some fault of Duke's, and Scarlett hasn't let him forget it. She makes subtle remarks about area's that he need's improvement on, and there is a constant air of uncomfortableness on the part of Duke. Duke references Snake Eyes when he receives his "Go find out what this Cobra thing is" mission. He says "I just wish Snake Eyes was here. He likes this kind of stuff". He says it, oddly enough, to Scarlett. We have no idea at this time if there is any special meaning behind the comment.

Snake Eyes gets a scene, scarring away an assassin who looks exactly like Wraith, who was in the middle of killing someone. Snake Eyes merely shows up and scares the bad guy away (or he just disolves - we'll hear more on that in later issues). In the next scene we see a shipment of evidence from the previous scene being sent to the "Think Tank" and Scarlett. It was unsigned, but Scarlett tells Dial Tone that she knows who it is from. In her hands we see her looking at a small picture that was scotch-taped to an item in the bag. It is a picture of two die, rolled as ones.. or "snake eyes".

So far, this book leaves me unimpressed. The dialog was so-so, the art was decent, and the story remains to be developed. But as far as being a fan of Snake Eyes, we have little to hope for, as far as protecting the sanctity of the Snake Eyes-Scarlett relationship. Apparently, he no longer writes to her, nor do they have that unspoken understanding of minds.... because now he has to take pictures of die in play to reveal his identity to her.

Scarlett is a smart-***, ego-centric little ***** at this point. WAY off the sweet and deadly part of the team she was 25 years ago.

Duke and Beachhead are good buddies. Beach wears no mask at this time. They like to jog together and talk about the past.

That about wraps up issue #1. To be honest, on a scale of 1 to 10 I would give it a 4 and cross my fingers that the other titles start off better than this.

My main issue with this book is the artwork, its not that bad, but needs more polish.

I noticed a few people here mentioned Dial Tone's sex change. In the latest episode of the G.I.Joe Review podcast, we talk with Andy Schmidt and this is one of the questions he addresses. You can check it out here: http://forums.yojoe.com/showthread.p...626#post402626

I'm guess and say that the "mystery assassin" is actually a kind of B.A.T. and the "mystery device" shown at the end of the comic is also a B.A.T. or some sort.
