Congrats to the winners! Both items are fine additions to high-end collections.

The Skystriker didn't meet reserve, with a high bid of just over $2,000. Dude is proud of his plane.....
MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.....

I love seeing the classic art on those boxes in such pristine condition.

I can imagine emotions running high for those in the auction, particularly for the guy who had his finger hovering over the clicker and finally hit the button - then finding out he didn't meet reserve. Some of those reserves are just Looney Tunes. You're not gonna get $9,999.99 for your AFA 85 Skystriker for about another 50 years.

I noticed the box had stenciled pilot names - I recognize Armbruster as "Ace," but "LT Wayne Rothel," the backseater, who's he?

So, $2,000 is not enough for that Skystriker? Either the seller thinks very highly of his item or he paid a lot for it in the first place.

I don't know much about MISB Defiant price, but $1,000 seems like the norm. That shipping cost is pretty awful though, even if it may be correct.

    Insane In The Membrane

OMG - look at this :

That has to be a record for any Joe item on Ebay.

My hat's off to the casino that buys this thing. Kind of a collectible like the sacred images that keep appearing in toast and Cheetos? That kind of chedda, ooh la la.

Well, I looked at his pics and it appears to come with an actual aircraft carrier......that's a pretty good price if you ask me.

    Hmm

Isn't that SkyStriker a first release? I am pretty sure that I saw boxes for it that later had a label proclaiming it "Voted Toy of the Year"
